April 23rd might just be one of the most beautiful days in Barcelona.
It’s Sant Jordi’s Day which is Catalonia’s version of Valentine’s Day.
The tradition comes from an old legend:
Sant Jordi (Saint George) saved a princess from a dragon, and from the dragon’s blood, a red rose grew. That’s why, on this day, people give roses to show love and books to celebrate culture.
You’ll see bookstalls and flower vendors lining the streets, and couples (or friends!) exchanging books and roses everywhere.
Tag who would you give a book or a rose to this year!
