At Bird Song Place there are many local markets to visit to stock up on great quality fresh fruit and vegetables 🍒 Also fish, meat, breads, clothing and home ware.

The 3 closest are:

🍓 Arboleas, 10 minute drive, Saturday a.m, large market with a mixture of Spanish and British sellers. It also has a section similar to a carboot with tools etc.
🍉 Albox, 10 minute drive, Tuesday a.m, large Spanish market in the town streets, mainly food stalls with a few clothing and homeware.
🍍 Almanzora, 10 minute walk or 2 minute drive, Friday a.m, our village (very small) market, a fruit and vegetable stall, cooked chicken stall and a homeware and clothing stall.

There are numerous more markets in the surrounding villages and on the coast, you can always find one somewhere each day of the week 💛

💛 Carboneras 💛

This lovely town is an hour drive from Bird Song Place but it’s worth it 💯The coastal road has stunning scenery through the national park⛰ It’s family friendly with a gorgeous beach and park areas for the kids 🛝🌵We had probably the best meal yet in one of the sea front restaurants 😋 We’ll certainly be back soon for a visit and hopefully we will be able to share these lovely places with our guests 😍

We’ve got perfect weather at the moment here 🌞 We’ve been working on painting the outside of Bird Song Place the last week before it gets too hot. It’s looking lovely and fresh with a new white coat! 🤩

Although Bird Song Place is rural we are only 30 minutes away from some beautiful beaches. We have some long stretches, small coves and nature reserves to enjoy. Some secluded and some with restaurants and shops. There’s a beach for everyone! Here’s a few pics of a recent trip to a gorgeous beach bar for breakfast 💛

So we had a bit of excitement this morning when we saw Bee-Eaters for the first time outside Bird Song Place! Every time I inched forwards to get a pic they flew off so this is the best I can get for now 😂 I did get a pic of Mark looking at them through the binoculars though while I couldn’t see much! 🤦🏼‍♀️ Here is also a pic of how beautiful they do actually look 😍 My mission is to get closer next time 🤞🏻💛

The swifts have arrived and loving life in the Spanish sun. They have settled in and we’ve even had a few visit us upstairs inside the main house! We aren’t too sure about this but we’ll let them off as they are so pretty! 😍 Photo taken from the main house roof terrace 🌅

After a busy week of hard work and the hottest day so far we celebrated by having our first pool visit of the year! 🌞 This is a natural spring water pool, around 20 minutes away. 🧜‍♀️ It’s completely free and open all year round to enjoy. Lovely family atmosphere with a few restaurants around the pool if you wish to eat or have a cool drink 🍹🥘 We are looking forward to recommending lovely places we have in the local area. It’s starting to warm up over here now 🌞

This week we’ve been super busy working on the garden space outside Bird Song Place creating a cute space to sunbath, enjoy food and just relax and take in the view 💛

Fascinating, we’ve been having a tidy up outside the main house today and found dried cactus, it reminds us of honeycomb! 🌵🍯

So we have been busy working away to create a special little place for people to come and stay. There's still some work to be done but we will keep you updated along the way. In the meantime we would love to share some sneak peeks of the beautiful local area and our findings so far...
