There have been 291 drownings during the first 7 months of the year in the whole of Spain. Last year 422 people drowned in our country.

For last years figures in the Canary Islands, 75% were tourists and 80% of deaths/accidents were caused by not following basic rules

Please:
🚩 if there’s a red flag, don’t swim
💛 If there’s a yellow flag, it’s recommended you don’t go in past your waist.
🧒 👧🏾 Don’t take your eyes off your kids
🏊‍♂️ Swim parallel to the shore if there’s a current
🛟 If you’re not used to swimming in the sea, try going to a beach where there is a lifeguard

As an owner who is not resident on the island we are subject to higher taxes than residents -- they charge us 24% tax & we cannot claim any expenses or costs at all -- now as of the 1 Jan 2024 we have just been informed that we will be subject to a further 7% tax from that 1 Jan 2024 -- = 31% ... I am not putting the prices up on bookings already done - but I am only just covering running cost -- so there is not much slack in the system to absorb it.
