Ethiopia's Letesenbet Gidey broke the women's 5,000m world record in Valencia, beating the previous best by more than four seconds. Gidey, 22, clocked 14 minutes 6.62 seconds to better the 14mins 11.15secs set by Tirunesh Dibaba in 2008.

𝐈𝐫𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐚 is the annual thanks giving day of the Oromo people of Ethiopia, which celebrate annually by the last week of September. According to the Oromo tradition “Irreechaa” itself, means ‘green and fresh grass’ that symbolize fertility and flourishing life due to the bless and guidance of the Creator, Waaqaa.
People gather around river banks and lake sides to make homage for Waqaa (God) for bringing from the rainy to the sunny season. People come out with colorful traditional outfits and march to water bodies to get blessed by the Aba Geddas.

Erta Ale is a continuously active basaltic shield volcano in the Afar Region of northeastern Ethiopia. It is situated in the Afar Depression, a badland desert area. Erta Ale is the most active volcano in Ethiopia.
The lave lake at the summit occasionally overflows.

Erta Ale means "smoking mountain" & it's "the gateway to Hell".

The coming September 11 will be 2013 Ethiopian calendar.
The flower you see in the photo blooms at our new year and is only found in Ethiopia.It is called Adey Abeba (Bidens macroptera) – in the month of September in Highland Ethiopia, after the Monsoon rains, rural areas of the country blooms with the yellow daisy known as Meskel Abeba in Amharic. These yellow beautiful daisies are known as “Meskel Flower” or “Adey Abeba” in Ethiopia.
