⭐️💫The end of an era....ready and excited to start another chapter of our life....Thank you to our family, friends, neighbours, guests, business partners etc, for your support, positive comments and loyalty 💖 ... you helped making our 3 years at the gîtes an amazing full-on adventure ☺️ .... we leave some of our heart and soul here in Dordogne 😌....our project with the renovation and the creation of these gîtes, in Périgord Noir, has been a true success, as we managed to make it happen ahead of the 5 years we had originally planned...Our successors and new owners of Gîtes de St Christophe, Mari and Jo, will now welcome you at the gîte Tournesol and gîte Lavande whilst keeping the concept we created....we are delighted to leave you in very good and friendly hands! 🤝😊..We invite you to follow us in our next adventure in the French Antilles’ island of Martinique 🌴🇲🇶 via a new page (soon to be revealed)....The caribbean stole both our hearts a very long time ago, most of you know we used to live there and longed to return....Well, we decided it was time to move on again and establish our new home in the beautiful Madinina (a.k.a. Martinique ou l’île aux Fleurs) in La Caraïbe....

Our Gîte Lavande, built in 1826 as the bread making house of the original Château Le Repaire, is hugely popular....perfect for romantic stays ..... with breathtaking panoramic views over the valley..... 🤩💖🌴....fully booked until the end of our 2020 season, but do not worry as 2021 dates will soon be released and available....🤩😉

Fancy something different to traditional Périgourdian food? .....then why not try these custom made sushi ....the lovely Madora at the sushi counter in Intermarché Le Bugue freshly prepared all these pieces for us in a few minutes....delicious....we had California american spicy tuna rolls, california salmon avocado rolls, and salmon avocado ice rolls.....truly recommend it!! 😋☺️.....no cooking, no washing up....perfect for a no fuss, no mess easy meal during your stay at the gîtes.....and this will leave you more time for stargazing afterwards 😉

Waiting for another spectacular moonrise....🤩....by the romantic candlelights 🕯🕯.....as we just heard the loud scary screachy scream, coming up from the forest, of what must be a big prehistoric Weirdosorus with 7 eyes and 13 wings.....😳😱

Fun French lesson with the lovely fast learning Nic from the UK ....what better way than learning French during your hols Chez Nous.....with a cheeky glass of crispy Sauvignon blanc on the side 😉.....my very unique, incredibly efficient, teaching method to make my students fluent quicker 👍☺️ ....(oh, and the panoramic view over the valley is complimentary with each language lesson 🤗)

11pm - First night dive photography at the Gîtes de St Christophe 🌚 ....no camera flash, just my head lamp not to scare these beauties too much....saved a lost dragonfly looking like a silver fairy Tinker Bell with multi-faceted diamond eyes and 6 wings from the pool 😳, heard wild Mummy boar groaning at her baby piglets in the prairie by the fence 🙀, never managed to see the loud singing crickets or owls calling at each other......but succeeded shooting h***y snails and pretty frogs/toads.....😉👍....then started hearing loads of other weird spooky noises, and bearing in mind we live very close to Cro Magnon Man’s prehistoric cave, I ran back inside the house !!😱

Petit clin d’oeil de dimanche sans canicule....hallelujah 🥵🤗.....et enfin, notre Lily de Jersey (amaryllis belladonna) fleurit pour la première fois depuis presque 3 ans!!🥳

Getting ready to celebrate Bastille Day....14 juillet, fête nationale....and there’s a Jersey twist to it this year 😉.....let’s not forget that Alienor d’Aquitaine, Duchess of South West of France, where we now live, married Henri II, duc of Normandie and grandson of William the Conqueror in 1152🥰....making her Queen of France, then Queen of England.....So, the Jersey flag regains all its meaning here 🤩

C’est la saison des amours 💝💖 .....même nos ‘petits’ serpents de jardin viennent s’enlacer sur la terrasse sans s’inquiéter de nous .... nos gîtes sont de toute évidence parfaits pour des séjours romantiques pour tous 😬😉.....la nature est si belle .....💕

J’aimerais savoir ce que tous ces oiseaux se racontent à 6h du matin....ça jacasse comme dans les loges d’un opéra 😉....mettez le son et écoutez-les....

After nearly two months of no rain, and suffering two heat waves (yesterday was 43 degrees in the shade of our courtyard !☀☀😎🌴😱) we finally had a storm to bring us back to normal summer weather....and what a storm, a storm of all storms! We were cleaning our pool and terraces when we noticed the menacing black, apocalyptic clouds rapidly gathering above us......so, we quickly started to put everything away for the storm....but too late, as we were doing so there was an ENORMOUS flash of lightening above us, with the deafening KERACK of thunder you get when it’s striking the earth......yes, we had a strike right above us, our house and our hamlet, knocking our power supply breakers off!!😳😳😱😱⚡⚡⚡my hair rose on my head like a frightened cat 🙀....😳😱 I looked at John as he shouted:” *#!#ing hell” ...we both quickly ran to shelter into the house!! (Panther was luckily already inside waiting for us!) And then the deluge came down....of biblical proportions💦💨⚡....John was considering starting to build an ark and round up the animals two by two!😳😂 On a plus, we needed the rain, the plants and garden will be very happy, and we had a free pool water top up! 😁👍🏽

Hear nature speaks on river Vézère....sweet dreams 🙂

.....and just like that, within minutes, as we were enjoying the heat 🌞, a tropical downpour just hit us.....feeling like in the Caribbean 🌴😳😱
