Wow! Hit 40C this afternoon but the fish seem OK

I thought I would post a note to say that life is normal here in spite of what you might hear on the radio. The civil unrest is confined to just a handful of major cities far away from the calm and tranquility of the south-west.
We are enjoying a little rain today to refresh the garden and save me watering tonight. Back to the usual sun tomorrow with 25C.

There are now around 60 goldfish in the pond and they feed from my hand!

At last! Some warm (hot) weather has arrived. Everything growing like mad in the garden but it's wonderful to have the pool to get into to cool off!

The best autumn weather! Still using the pool (as the heater is on) and the sun is shining warmly until early evening.

Today I discovered that the wildlife pond has some very tiny fish in it - very exciting. I guess the conditions are perfect, as there are only three goldfish, a large carp and a smaller one there - all of which were put in in the spring and summer.

The planting has grown really well and the pond has attracted a pair of frogs. Over the last few weeks several dragonflies have laid eggs in the water, so I'm looking forward to those coming out next summer.

Talking of which, I have already received a booking for August of next year. I suspect 2022 is going to be busy!

A brown hare appeared in the garden the day before yesterday. Beautiful. Want to find out how to attract more, but don't want to sacrifice my veggies. What a quandary!

As the summer has progressed I have added 2 carp and 3 small goldfish to the bassin. The other night just after having put some food in the water, the three larger fish came to the surface, together, and ate the food. Thought they had all but disappeared so I was relieved to see them

But September is a lovely month with still hot days and the pool is heated to 28C. I haven't opened up the calendar yet with TripAdvisor or other agencies - so pass the word around your entourage and save some money by booking direct!! Mates rates considered!!🤣🤣

France announced today that it is closing the border with the UK - and a 10-day obligatory self-isolation is imposed. So, I guess, another year without UK visitors!! What with that and all the tests required to get back!!

One little goldfish added to the wildlife pond today - so difficult to catch in my friends' pool. Friends to follow, I hope as he/she hasn't been seen since we put it in!!

I've been creating a wildlife pond this year. As the kids' pool was rarely used, as the main is heated, this was a chance to do something nice with it. It's now got several nenuphars (water lilies) and I hope to introduce some fish later in the year
