The 4th of July is not only a special day for the USA, it is also the birthday of one Nice's biggest heroes, Giuseppe Garibaldi. Garibaldi is known as the hero that unified Italy in 1861, he also stood up against slavery and was known as the hero of 2 worlds. Behind his back his home town was given to Nice in an illegal vote, in exchange for France's help in the Italian unification. 160 years later, there is still a group of Nicois that wish for independance from France. It is apt to chose the US independance day & Garibaldi's birthday to announce their own president... The President of the "Republica de Nissa" announcing their new president on the 4th of July in front of Garibaldi's statue.

Hier, c'est par la Croix Rousse que nous avons fait redécouvrir Lyon à des Lyonnais. Une balade sans effort leur permettant de découvrir des lieux qu'ils n'avaient encore jamais vu pour la plupart, les joies du vélo électrique et d'apprendre des anecdotes sur leur ville !

f any of you are wondering why the canon went off at 10:30 today 14th June, it is for the 160th anniversary that Nice became France... Here is an article on the celebrations... I love how the vainceurs rewrite history... ... 99.2% voted for Nice to become French, but the locals knew, the election was rigged, there was only a yes choice for those that went to vote, so you needed to be able to write if you were against, many rich families who were in allegience with a unified Italy where relocated to other parts of Italy...The voting halls were policed by the French military. But I guess this is how history is, "history is always written by the victors"

🔸 Le protocole sanitaire a été entièrement mis à jour : vélos désinfectés avant et après chaque sortie, distance minimum à respecter entre chaque personne, groupes de 8 personnes maximum.
🔸 Les visites sont désormais accessibles à partir de 1m35 (avec un bon niveau de vélo)
🔸 Les visites privées sont dorénavant possibles (sur demande)
🔸 Les vélos électriques sont tout neufs (et n'attendent que vous !)
