Important Notice for passengers arriving in Sri Lanka
As per the latest update from the authorities following changes are effective for passengers arriving in Sri Lanka.
Mandatory insurance coverage for Covid-19 treatment for foreign passport holders is lifted and not required.
Submission of Health Declaration form is not required.
No quarantine requirement for passengers who are fully vaccinated or arriving with a negative Covid -19 Test (PCR/RAT).
Since 01st March 2022 fully vaccinated travellers do not need to take COVID-19 tests (PCR or Rapid Antigen test) before travelling to Sri Lanka.
Guidelines for passengers arriving in Sri Lanka:
Pre-Departure Testing.
Unvaccinated/partially vaccinated persons of 12 years and above should mandatorily carry a negative COVID-19 PCR test report done within 72 Hours OR Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) report within 48 Hours of Departure flight into Sri Lanka (Self-swabs are not allowed.) They will be exempted from on-arrival testing.
Persons with a history of COVID-19 infection more than 6 months before the date of departure with a single dose of two-dose vaccine are NOT considered as fully vaccinated and should arrive with a negative pre-boarding COVID-19 test. They will be exempted from on-arrival testing.
Pre-Departure & arrival testing exemptions
Fully vaccinated persons who have obtained recommended doses of COVID-19 vaccine and depart two weeks after obtaining the vaccine
Children below 12 years of age
Children of twelve years to eighteen years, if depart two weeks after obtaining at least a single dose of Pfizer/Moderna Vaccine. (Considered as Fully Vaccinated)
Persons who have taken at least a single dose of a two-dose vaccine and COVID-19 infection during the past six months or persons who had COVID-19 infection within the past six months and after the infection taken a single dose of two-dose vaccine. (Considered as Fully Vaccinated)
Quarantine requirement
No quarantine requirement for passengers who are fully vaccinated or arriving with a negative Covid -19 Test (PCR/RAT).
General measures
Vaccination certificate/vaccination card / verifiable evidence of vaccination, PCR/RAT test report should be produced in original. If the documents are not in the English language translation along with originals must be produced.
Fully vaccinated status – If taken two-dose vaccine (Pfizer, Moderna, AstraZeneca, etc.) or recommended combination of vaccines (e.g Pfizer, Moderna, AstraZeneca) or taken a single dose of vaccine (e.g. Janssen, etc.) and departs two weeks after obtaining the vaccine.
Issuing an on-arrival ETA at the port of entry to Sri Lanka will be facilitated for tourists. However, it is advisable to obtain online ETA by tourists where possible before they arrive in Sri Lanka. This arrangement is available for all nationals except passport holders of Afghanistan, Pakistan, Syria, Nigeria, Ghana, Ivory Coast, Cameroon, Myanmar, Nepal, and North Korea.
