The most popular visa for people who intend setting up a business in France is a VLS-TS Entrepreneur/Profession Libérale which is usually referred to as a “self-employment visa”.
This visa is typically for setting up a small business and would usually, but not exclusively, require the creation of a micro-entreprise after the visa has been obtained. Before submitting a visa request the applicant has to obtain approval for their business plan from the appropriate French agency.
Once this has been done then the applicant can go ahead and make a visa application. The visa requirements are to be able to show that you can earn sufficient funds from your business, equivalent to minimum wage (1400 euros net per month at the time of writing). Proof that you have a place to live is also required.
