Congratulations to Josh Ruxin and Alissa Ruxin for the amazing work you are are doing in Hospitality in Rwanda.They had no idea but got on a plane anyway, determined to try.

In Kigali, Josh began working from the ground up to bring food and health care to the country’s villages.

Alissa drew on her foodie expertise, and together they opened heaven, a gourmet restaurant overlooking Kigali and its famous hills. It’s now an inter- national dining destination, but getting there was tough.

Josh and Alissa had to work with a staff that had never even eaten in a restaurant and had to form a true team from people whose relatives had fought one another less than twenty years before all while raising their own three children in the center of Africa.

In New York City, Josh and Alissa never could have imagined that their path to making a difference would lead not just to fields and clinics but to a kitchen and the best guacamole in Africa.

Thank you Josh and Alissa for choosing Rwanda and make an impact to the Rwanda Community🇷🇼

Ikirenge Cultural Centre:

Ikirenge cya Ruganzu means the Foot-of- Ruganzu. They are in Gako Cell, Rusiga Sector, Rulindo District in Northern Province, precisely in 25 kilometers from Kigali along Kigali-Musanze main road.

Launched in 2015 to conduct training in arts, crafts and dances; to showcase regional and national history and culture via accessible and well documented historical and cultural sites located in Rulindo District.

The Center is surrounded by beautiful garden, different exhibition buildings on the economy, history, culture and way of life of Rwandans in different times.

Thank you Theogene from Ikirenga Cultural Centre for guiding us in this historical museum and congratulations for the beautiful work you are doing.

With my sister Nirere. So happy to meet her in Gisenyi after many years. We were kids and we shared the same orphanage Nyundo after 1994.

Today we are Moms raising our own kids.
It’s not easy when our kids asked us uncles, Aunts, grandma, grandpa etc… but we are lucky to have people who loved us and showed us love when It was impossible to believe in love.Thank you to everyone who showed up to the orphans in Rwanda in 1994.

This is what we do in Kigali the first and third Sundays of the month “a car-free days” in Kigali.🇷🇼

No cars or motorcycles are allowed on the roads in the city center from 7 am to 10 am as part of efforts to make Kigali a green city and advocate for healthier living through exercising and getting frequent health checkups.

We are happy to enjoy this activity with our Guests. Shema Travel values sport and we are aware of the well-being it brings to our guests and the Rwandan population.

What a pleasure to meet the Cleo Team and discuss several projects, including Anthénea
which is perfect for Lake Kivu.

I fell in love with this hotel because of it’s diminutive name Cleo, which means Cleophas.

Cleophas was my grandfather's name who I didn't get a chance to know because of the genocide against the Tustis in 1994.

Kibuye is also my father's region.
I can't wait to visit Kibuye and Cleo.

Congratulations! for the amazing work you are doing in Kibuye Eugene, Marie-Claire, Sarah and the whole Team Cleo.

The Nyamirambo Women’s Center started taking advantage of the tourism industry in Kigali by offering community tours, cooking classes and craft workshops.

Yesterday, we were happy to bring our American Guests to Nyamirambo Women’s Center to learn about their work, purchase handicrafts, and enjoy the walking tour.

Shema Travel believes that Maintenance of culture and traditions like the handicraft industry and preservation of ecosystem is a notable point of tourism.

Meeting different cultures and getting to know their art and skills is an example of positive impacts of tourism on local communities. Thank you Nyamirambo women's center 🇷🇼
