Solstice

This morning i got up to witness the earliest time the sun ascends from the opposite hill, shining its light across Loch Ewe, around 4.23. The peak of our year, the longest day, summer solstice.

The desire to connect is strong.

I own this desire, it is mine, this wonder and imagining of ancient peoples viewing the same such event, thankful that the sun indeed rises bountiful to raise the crop warming the land. I feel deeply the need of connection. Presence - the state or fact of existing, occurring, being.

Ancient contained spaces like Stonehenge and Callanish, can be viewed as megalithic observatories, charting solar and lunar movements. Yet there’s so much more meaning, memory, to be felt in the presence of the stone, such circles numerous.

Recently in Orkney’s Ness of Brodgar, on a tiny fragment of Neolithic pottery fingerprints were found and said to belong to two young men. Much archaeologist’s conjecture followed.

I find myself not needing or wanting, not doubting the presence of our ancestors capabilities as it is deep in my bones, hand in hand with a deep sense of gratitude for being here right now, still alive, the sacred everywhere.

Know full well the need of a marked space where we all would have been able to express this connective spirit - so all i really mean to transmit today, with real love, is a big HELLO.
