Yesterday’s walk up Prison Band via the Thriddle Incline, Black Sails and Wetherlam. Although not visible to my camera lens, the mountains of Snowdonia in Wales were clearly visible to the naked eye.

Sunday walk up to Glaramara summit from Seatoller and back down the Hind Ghyll path to Seathwaite. From the top could be seen the hills of Galloway in southern Scotland, Snae Fell on The Isle of Man, and Ingleborough in The Yorkshire Dales. Not forgetting virtually the whole of The Lake District.

Just received one of my best Trip Advisor reviews ever, from 9 Aug 2021:

“The most pleasurable stay.
My friend and I booked to stay at How Head barn for 2 nights in August, after what has been a very busy 18 months working as nurses. What can I say, How Head barn is just beautiful, and certainly provided us with the rest and relaxation that we needed.
Robin the owner, was wonderful in every way. He was warm and welcoming and went that extra mile to ensure our stay was perfect.
The room had a traditional feel with a modern bathroom area, and all our essentials were provided.
Robin welcomed us into his home and ensured we were set up for the day with the most amazing breakfasts on both days - his smashed avocado on sour dough bread, with feta cheese, vine tomatoes and a poached egg was absolutely delicious!
The location of the barn is ideal, a 5 minute walk into the centre of Ambleside, yet set back enough to be away from the hustle and bustle. The quaint little terrace area to sit out and relax, overlooking roof tops and the mountains was picture perfect.
Robin made sure our wet and soggy walking clothes and boots were laid out to dry overnight, ready for a hike the following day. He also gave us lots of advice on where to eat, drink and walk, and provided us with a lovely little route map of Loughrigg Fell.
We were able to park on the driveway area and knew our car would be safe throughout our stay.
There is a self catering apartment under the main area of the house which I without hesitation, will be booking in the near future.
I highly recommend How Head barn for anyone wanting to explore the stunning Lake District in a central location. Thank you so much Robin for your courteous hospitality, you were ace! Looking forward to returning very soon.”
