The views you get from your sofa at Arnisdale House are unbeatable we think.
Hebridean waves, Highland cows and the green bus that is always there in summer. No idea where the bus is going, we just sit back and relax.
Centrally located on the West coast of Lewis, in the peaceful village of Bru.
Stornoway is only a 20 minutes drive away as well as golden sand beaches and major places of interest.
No eagles or wildlife today, here are the Red Arrows making at pitstop at Stornoway airport. Later this afternoon they took off for Canada.

One of our favourite places to spot wildlife is around the loch eireasort and the south lochs on Lewis. On a Sunday we saw a buzzard, an eagle and lots of deer on the hill.

Although summer is not the season to see the northern lights, a big show was on last night above Arnisdale House (Monday 12th aug) on Lewis.
Wendy captured some nice shots, unfortunately the clouds prevented to see more of the lights.
The photos are not edited, as we believe you should not trick people with pictures that are not real.

Out and around Dalbeg beach this morning we spotted a pair of sea eagles ? with a juvenile ( the one in the pictures).
This is only a few miles away from Arnisdale House, so look up if you are around next time.

Open Studios Hebrides this weekend, so we visited Adabrock Weaving Company up in the north part of Lewis, where the lovely Margaret showed us around. We ordered a table runner that will match with the lampshade we bought last year 😀
Very well worth a visit, and the scenery is amazing too!

Rumor has it that you can eat the best fish and chips here, try it out , only 15 minutes drive from Arnisdale !
Yahoooooo.... Yippeeeee.....hurrah and all that.... I have just picked up the largest piece of monkfish tail I have EVER seen... Our monkfish special will be on again Friday (tomorrow). Served with chips and home made coleslaw.

Isn't that a fantastic painting of Arnisdale House ?
Some time ago we saw some beautiful paintings from well known places in Stornoway painted by Heather Afrin Art .
We asked if she could make a painting in this typical style, and here it is, so happy with the result.
Next week we are going to collect it and it will be hanging in the living room at Arnisdale House .

Butt of Lewis
One of the must visit places on Lewis is The Butt of Lewis lighthouse in the most northern part of the island. A magical place to do a circular walk, watching wildlife at is best. This was filmed last summer in September, enjoy!
After years of traveling through Scotland and the islands, we started dreaming of having our own cottage on Scottish soil. When we visited Lewis and Harris for the first time in 2018, we fell in love with the island with its natural splendor. The search had begun and eventually this place became our piece of Scotland. We also wanted to let others enjoy this unique environment and decided to rent out our cottage at times when we cannot be there ourselves.
The house can comfortably accommodate 6 people in 3 bedrooms. We offer a master bedroom with king size bed, and 2 bedrooms with 2 single beds (can be put together)
The cozy kitchen is fully equipped with everything you need to make your stay as pleasant as possible. From the sofa you can enjoy the sunset over the ocean and loch barvas in the evening. A spacious bathroom with bath, separate shower, toilet and washbasin bring you to rest after a long walk.
We are quiet but close to everything from shops, restaurants to most sights on Lewis and Harris itself.
Our prices vary from £600 in low season to £900 in highseason. From may till mid september we only take bookings for 7 nights, in the other period you are welcome from 3 nights.
