November Snow at Aultbea Lodges
19th November at Aultbea Lodges
Enjoy our Highland snow from your armchair!
So, this afternoon, I heard the distinct White Tailed Eagle call.
Looking up I spotted 2 Eagles and I took this video (with my phone), so you'll know what they sound like.
We hear, and then see them, pretty regularly overhead, so keep your ears and eyes open.
Good luck :0)
(p.s. the original video was sooo bad, turned out I hadn't been stopping and starting, so I've had it to edit to cut out all the motion sickness movement, grass, ducks and feet footage! However FB doesn't seem to be able to present the full video, so this is a short part)
Welcome to the world little one!
Last night's new arrival...
This Doe has chosen to have her fawn in our garden grounds, so it's likely we'll be seeing them around for a few weeks.
If you do see them about, carry on as normal, just give them space, don't feed them or try to approach and if you see the fawn curled up, hidden somewhere, just leave it be, the mother is about and this is natural behaviour.
Please keep dogs on a lead.
But do feel free to observe with a silly smile!
Oh my heart ❤️
So what I haven't told you about these wee bunnies, is that they don't appear to have a mother, who at this age would normally be with them all the time. This wee pair have been coming out of hiding and trying to connect with the chickens and ducks and then gambolling away when we they get a warning hiss from the ducks (and just ignored by the chickens). But the ducks have become less hissy , I'm guessing due to the persistence and the fact the bunnies don't seem to know to be afraid.
And I've just seen this....keep watching
A teeny hiss from Hi Ho and then acceptance. After thie video Hi Ho just ruffled her feathers in a happy duck way and they sat companionalby.
If the bunnies get protection from the poultry for a couple of weeks, their chances of survival are certainly higher. In nature of course nothing is certain but fingers crossed x
These adorable, teeny, baby rabbits are keeping us amused.
Roughly 20cm long. So sweet.
Expect more videos 🤣
Our dear neighbour, Velvet, rolling in the snow today (I didn't)
About 1600, a few steps from the Lodges, looking over Loch Ewe, Isle of Ewe & Aultbea
