Christmas decorations up at Millwood Lodge xx

The west tower at Furness Abbey once stood to a height of 160 ft. This was a late addition to the abbey - built around 1500. It would have been visible above the top of the surrounding valley sides, and the 6 bells would have rung out far and wide.
The tower was pulled down with ‘ropes and othe engynes’ during the dissolution in 1537.

From the 15th December 2021 we will no longer be operating as a Bed and Breakfast. We are changing to self catering .

We have loved our years of meeting and looking after our guests ,we would like to thank you all 🥰

Furness Friday 🐝 The Abbeys conservation work is now completed , scaffolding is down . Perfect place to visit at the weekend . Treat yourself to cake and ice cream at Abbey Mill Cafe in stunning surroundings . We have it all on our doorstep , history , beaches and mountains .
