These two paintings went to ArtWorks2 in Betws y Coed a couple of weeks ago. Top one is of Llyn Idwal from Y Garn and is now sold the other is Yr Wyddfa ( Snowdon) from the Snowdon Ranger Path on a winter late afternoon, as the sun was casting a pink glow over the mountains.

They show the remains of a slate mining village and quarry sitting up in the clouds of the magnificent hills adjacent to Llyn Cwmorthin. Exciting times for Blaenau Ffestiniog - not only was it recently made part of a World Heritage Site, but new slate mines are opening, so that the production of slate is no longer confined to history. Darwins Boulders Cwm Idwal 24"x12" These large boulders sit close to the path alongside Llyn Idwal. Darwin suggested that they had been carried to this point by a glacier. However they got there I love their sculptural appearance.
