Carrying on with our ‘summer celebration’ theme from yesterday, Elysium’s Field House recently held a Summer Fair which attracted some very popular VIP visitors.
The people who are supported at Field House were joined by some alpacas for the festivities which included mocktails and stalls, a raffle, BBQ, buffet and even a visit from the ice cream van.
While the weather hasn’t been consistently sunny over the last few weeks, our services have certainly been determined to celebrate the summer and enjoy the warm weather with great events and activities!
CAMHS service Rhodes Wood Hospital recently held their summer fete which included fun events including henna hand-painting and a bouncy castle.
And at The Limes Carnival, visitors from Clipstone House and Field House joined people supported at the service to enjoy live music, delicious food, stalls, a caricature artist and carnival games .
Elysium Healthcare took part in the recent Manchester Pride Parade. Thanks to everyone who gave us a wave!

A fantastic Working Together event at Middlewood Clinic was a great opportunity to reflect on how to work together with the people we support and their loved ones and what makes engagement meaningful.
The team at Ballington House recently decided to embrace the summer season with a Mocktails and Dreams themed day including grass skirts and wild shirts!
With the sun shining there was plenty of fun for the people supported at the service and colleagues.
The input and hard work of all members of the team at St Mary’s Hospital is greatly valued.
And so, when Therapy Dog Bea, who works at the service, recently celebrated her fourth birthday, the team made sure that it was marked in appropriate style!
Sibel Albay is a Practice Development Nurse at Potters Bar Clinic and a Registered Mental Health Nurse. She is also DE&I (diversity, equity and inclusion) Lead for the CAMHS and Specialist Service Region as well as the Co-Chair of the Steering Group of the DE&I Steering Group at Elysium. We spoke to her about her different roles and why she feels so passionately about DE&I.

The team at Hope House were recently delighted to receive this much appreciated feedback from the social worker of a person previously supported at the service.
Holkham and Martham House recently held a hugely successful ‘Party in the Car Park’ event. With fantastic food including Greek and German cuisine to enjoy, there was also a live band providing entertainment and an ice-cream truck to keep everyone cool! A fantastic event enjoyed by people supported at the service, their families and the staff team.
The people supported at Gresham House have recently been having fun with their “Can we dig it” project and enjoying the ‘fruits’ of their hard work!
The people supported at the service, along with the staff team, have been working hard preparing their vegetable garden and recently been able to sample the first batch of produce. They enjoyed strawberries, peas and cucumbers with the peas making their way into a delicious rice and peas salad.
Victoria Gardens held their own Olympics Games event recently. With teams including people supported at the service and staff from every department there were a great range of games that everyone could take part in including an inflatable dartboard, shooting range, basketball hoops and even an egg and spoon relay race. Everyone received a medal while the administration team scooped the Gold. A fantastic way for everyone to socialise and be active.
The people supported at Field House made the very best of the lovely summer weather with a visit to a local farm which also happens to specialise in ice cream!
So as well as a chance to get up close with the farm’s animals, there was the perfect opportunity to cool down and sample the delicious ice-creams on offer.
Bere Clinic marked the Olympics with a co-produced event which was a resounding success. Working together, the event was planned by young people and staff at the service who decided which activities should be included as well as other aspects including promotion and catering. The poster promoting the event was created by a young person supported at the service and refereeing duties were shared between young people and staff. A great example of working together.
It has certainly been a summer of sport so far across Elysium this year!
Our first ever football tournament – hosted by Victoria Gardens - was a huge success with five services taking part and more than 100 people competing or spectating on the day. Teams included people supported by services across the organisation as well as colleagues, and the feedback has been amazing from all who took part.
The tournament victors were Ty Grosvenor who played some amazing football to lift the inaugural title. Watch this space for news of the next tournament – it’s sure to be very competitive with more and more services looking to be involved!
The hugely popular ‘fakeaway’ sessions at The Limes, which focus on healthy eating choices and helping to tackle obesity, continue to be very popular.
In the most recent session, healthy takeaway alternatives created by the people we support included Thai Green Curry and Sweet & Sour Chicken with Rice followed by Biscoff Protein Ball. Delicious and healthy!
The Field House Walking Wednesday Group got up close with nature during a recent visit to Kings Mill Reservoir in Sutton in Ashfield. As well as viewing the Carnfield Bee Hives they were pleased to meet a large flock of geese.
St Neots Neurological Centre recently hosted a very successful Alpaca Day.
The people supported at the service enjoyed interacting with Jeronimo and Mungo, the two alpacas who visited and it was also a great chance for everyone to get together and socialise while spending time out in the fresh air.

During the last term, the students at Bere Clinic School enjoyed a biology class with a difference.
They were joined by Kevin from Hawking About and his birds of prey. Both students and the staff team learned a great deal about these magnificent creatures and about conservation.
Elysium are pleased to welcome Dr Emanoel Ruja, Consultant Psychiatrist, who has joined the team at The Chimneys Clinic in Bury St Edmunds.
Dr Ruja brings with him extensive experience covering a variety of areas ranging from learning disabilities, autism, neuropsychiatry, to working in Psychiatric Intensive Care Units (PICU) and Rehabilitation. He is also trained for Autism Diagnosis Observation Schedule (ADOS).

The walking group at Field House have been out and about enjoying the glorious Peak District which is right on their doorstep.
IN a recent trip they enjoyed a visit to Baslow Edge where they set out to find the famous Wellington Monument. As well as finding the monument, they also enjoyed the areas stunning views.

The team at Gateway Recovery Service recently marked Wellbeing Week with a variety of different therapeutic and relaxing activities being offered for colleagues.
Marking Wellbeing Week began with a visit from a therapist who came to the service in the evening to offer treatments for colleagues who work at night including relaxing therapies such as Indian head massage, cupping, relaxation breathing exercises, back and neck massage or reflexology.
In a reflection of the hard work and commitment of the team at Potters Bar Clinic, we are pleased to announce the service has received the 3Q's rating NHS Wales for the second year running.

Visits and trips are an important motivator and part of a person’s journey at Bere Clinic. The service’s school team recently visited Staunton Farm where they enjoyed getting up close with some of the farm’s resident animals.
People supported at Field House recently enjoyed a visit to Chesterfield Flea Market where they spent time browsing its interesting stalls.
The recent World Chocolate Day was certainly a hit. At The Limes, there were treats for everyone to help mark this celebratory day!

It’s Friday, which means it’s Fruit O’Clock at Thornford Hospital! As part of the healthy eating programme, staff, and patients at Thornford Park have been taking part in a new initiative designed to encourage patients to try fruits they may not have tried before. Fruit O’clock Friday brings staff and patients together to try fruit platters, smoothies and even mocktails, highlighting the benefits of a diet high in fruit and vegetables.
Huge congratulations to Ty Grosvenor’s wonderful Housekeeper Kim Jones, who has just received her 5-year Long Service Award. Our Housekeeping teams across Elysium do vitally important work, helping us ensure we provide the very best quality service possible for the people we support.

Doctors from across Elysium recently gathered for our annual medical conference. It was an opportunity to hear from expert speakers, share best practice and learning as well as explore a range of important subjects focusing on ensuring the organisation offers the best possible treatment, care and support – and outcomes – for people supported in its services. In a short film created at the conference, our clinicians share what it’s like to work the organisation; from the supportive environment to the training opportunities we offer as well the wealth of opportunities to maintain happy, healthy and fulfilling careers with Elysium.
Last month Aberbeeg Hospital in Abertillery celebrated its 100th anniversary. The day was marked with the grand opening of Air Wave, the new patient led café run for & by the people supported at the service. Air Wave also offers a permanent home to Aberbeeg Radio with its own purpose-built studio. The Air Wave building will shortly be painted using Six Bells Red, a unique paint made from the iron oxide pigment which is naturally found in the mine water waste. Turning Landscape, the organisation who have developed the paint, explained that the pigment is naturally sourced from the mine below Aberbeeg which collapsed in the 1960s. A sunny evening allowed for performances by Beaufort Male Choir along with The Abertillery Town Brass Band. Patients, families and the people we support all enjoyed the performances with some lovely well-wishing messages from local neighbours.

The two wards each offer a different focus dependent on the individual patients’ stability and needs with most residents starting their treatment at Aster Ward before moving on to more intensive trauma work at Darcy Ward. We are proud to share that Elysium Healthcare has now welcomed 300 Overseas Nurses from around the world to join us in our commitment to delivering great healthcare. Violet embarked on her career with Elysium as an Overseas Nurse and she has since seen her career flourish as a Charge Nurse with endless support and encouragement around her. Because that’s what delivering great healthcare should feel like.
