Today is the national day of Wales! An opportunity to celebrate everything Welsh.....Sheep, Daffodils, Dragons, Castles, Rugby, Male Voice Choirs....

Here are a few of my favourite Welsh things...

➡️Welsh Rarebit 🧀
It always starts with Cheese. It is classic Welsh teatime snack. Visit the International Welsh Rarebit centre in Defynnog, for the best ones.

➡️Welsh Castles
Carreg Cennen Castle. A wonderful example of a picture book castle, perched on a breath taking cliff. Take your camera.

➡️Welsh Woolen Blankets
Im a wool fanatic, I love textiles, colour and pattern, the traditional Welsh blankets are to die for and are completely unique to Wales.

➡️Welsh Buildings
Saint Fagans, is possibly the best museum in the world. I love architecture and love learning about how we used to live. https://museum.wales/

🍽🏡The doors to the Bed and Breakfast are back open.🏡🍽

Apologies to all our fabulous guests, we are not usually this late opening our doors after Christmas, but with the many changes in peoples circumstances and tourism, we took an extended break. Its all good. We have had time to make even more improvements and add value to our visitors where we can. Sid and I are fully recharged. Looking forward to seeing you all again this season. ⛰Fan-y-Big circular walk⛰

This is a great circular walk from our holiday cottages and Bed & Breakfast. The summit of Fan y Big is an excellent viewpoint of the rest of the horseshoe ridge and famous peaks of the Beacons. There is a fabulous stone slab that sticks out and provides some excellent photo opportunities.

It certainly feels like spring today, with Easter only around the corner.
Although we very rarely close so I cant say its the start of the season, but we are getting busier. And with 0 covid restrictions on the horizon, the Brecon Beacons is getting ready for visitors.
So if you are looking for a get away, Ty Newydd Holidays might have something for you and your budget.
We have short stays in our B&B accommodation and we are now doing both long weekend, midweek and full week breaks in our 3 self catering cottages. Finally if you would like a short stay but with the facilities of a cottages we have our very popular studio apartment.

The summer is going so quickly! We have a few rooms available in the B&B, but our cottages are fully booked. I don‘t know where the time is going?
I think it is our 12 year anniversary of running a B&B this month……which in hospitality years is more like 60!
It was 2008 when we moved to the Brecon Beacons, but it wasn’t until Summer 2009 we got our first B&B room ready for unsuspecting guests and flung our creaking door open.
I remember Sid saying he was putting the Sign up at the bottom of the road. I said, I’d better go out and buy some bog roll and sausages just in case! Less than 2hrs later June and George from Australia knocked on our door wanting a room for the night. I turned round to find Sid, but he had disappeared, only to reappear in 2018, after converting four self catering cottages.
Where has the bloody time gone? Anyway still here and moving forward… we hope you are too. Enjoy the rest of your summer.

We are back!
Well we have been back for a while actually and operating as normal (with Covid restrictions).
Sid and I have been beavering away everyday, serving breakfasts and organising the cottages for peoples long awaited and well deserved holidays.
Many people have returned to stay with us from previous years but we are meeting many new customers, in search of a relaxing break.
We are full in the self catering cottages until the end of September. But we still have rooms available in our B&B, so keep an eye on our availability.
