Many miles of uninterrupted countryside walks are available from the doorstep with the property being situated in its own private 15-acre, superb, ancient oak wooded river valley. Here you will find an abundance of wildlife including free range horses, owls, deer, badgers and buzzards. Guests also have access to several hundred yards of beautiful wild brown trout fishing. Locally, Norden is around 1½ miles away and home to village amenities such as a fantastic fish and chip shop and numerous food serving pubs and restaurants. Nutters Restaurant, owned by celebrity chef Andrew Nutter can be reached in around a 10-minute drive, set in 6½ acres, it offers a full selection of menus from gourmet food to light bites. Andrew has opened a pub bistro at the bottom of the valley serving traditional pub food, and afternoon tea is available at The Crimble at the bottom of the lane. The local precinct is a 15-minute walk away which boasts many businesses, including an Italian restaurant, a small supermarket, a cocktail/wine bar etc. In the same village there are numerous friendly pubs and eateries, and various local pubs are within a 1-mile walk from Oriels Retreat. Just 20 minutes away is Bury, near Manchester, which is home to a world famous market and the East Lancashire Railway Company. Bury’s cultural quarter boasts many of the most fascinating museums in the UK, and the town has a year round calendar full of exciting events. Finally, the city of Manchester with its bright lights, shops and theatres can be reached in around 30 minutes, the Peak District National Park in around 45 minutes and both Liverpool and Chester in around 1¼ hours. You can leave your car, walk and relax, or explore the surrounding area from this wonderful base in a superb location. The owners live next door and are on hand with abundant local knowledge.
