Waterfalls make you feel relaxed, calm and provide an overall sense of well-being! Okay, so it’s not quite a waterfall but hearing the water cascading down the side of the dam, with the beautiful blue skies above was lovely to experience at Rudyard Lake. It’s a rare sight and not been seen like this for years!

Happy New Year everyone!

What a brilliant year 2023 was and we’ve thoroughly enjoyed welcoming so many wonderful guests from all over the world. We truly love sharing our little bit of the Peak District with you and a massive thank you all that have stayed with us.

We’re so looking forward to family time, cosying by the fire, watching some classic movies and getting out on the Peak District hills over the holidays.

We’ve had our first dusting of snow, the mince pies are made, the tree is up and the scent of cinnamon and orange is flowing throughout the barn….we do love Christmas here at Cuckoostone🎄🎄🎄

Bluebells are blooming across the Peak District and are such a wonderful sight! They always make me smile!

The first snowfall of the year and it’s been such a beautiful day! Made cosy by snuggling in front of the fire, with a good book and hot chocolate!

We welcomed our first guests of 2023 earlier but we’re not ready to say goodbye to the decorations just yet!

Thank you to all that stayed with us last year and we’re looking forward to seeing new and familiar faces this year.

We have blackberries galore this year on the lane, and our guests (and us) have been making the most of them. You can’t beat a foraged blackberry and apple crumble from the doorstep. Yummy 😋

A WALK WITH US

We’re often asked where we like to walk, so thought we’d share some of our adventures with you, we love exploring and finding new places too and hope our posts will show you what we love about the Peak District and local area. This was yesterdays bimble, it’s quite close to the barn and the starting point is just a 3 miles away.

Beresford Dale - Wolfscote Dale - Biggin Dale -
6.2 mile circular walk and includes a pub pit stop at The Waterloo Inn in Biggin.

We use Komoot to plan our trips, it’s a route planner app for hiking & cycling and great to keep you on the right path!
