Our nearest beach is a short 20 minutes away straight downhill 😀 Dinas Dinlle is a fabulous spot when the tides out you have a huge sandy shore with a very gradual slope into the sea so it’s perfect for paddling! what I love about it most is even in the height of season it’s never full and crowded, just plenty of space for picnics and watching the sunsets 🌅 it’s also worth noting you can take your Dog 🐕 for a walk at the northern end all the way through the year 👍

Great for a day trip we love the castle here!

📍 Criccieth is a friendly seaside town overlooked by an ancient castle. Tucked into the top of Cardigan Bay it makes an ideal base for adventures along the Llŷn Peninsula coast.

But if a misty one this weekend , but the cottage soon warms up and-we made some small changes like a new rug and sanded back and re oiled the worktop ready for our guests who arrived earlier today, we hope they have a great relaxing and chilled out time in our little bolt hole away from it all,

In Welsh, Anglesey is known as Môn. The mainland opposite is called Arfon (ar Fôn, or ‘opposite Anglesey’). 🌊

Arfon’s main town is Caernarfon, earlier Caerynarfon (’the fort in the land opposite Anglesey’). 🏰

Welsh place names can be very logical! 🤓

The Anglesey Sea Zoo is around 30 minutes drive from the cottage and is a great day out if your bringing little ones with you, we’ve enjoyed visiting over the years.

Just a ten minute drive down hill from you will find beach, it’s easy to see on the horizon due to the Iron Age hill fort which is slowly being eroded back into the sea, it’s been there for 2500 years and you can climb it and catch a sunset like this whilst checking out the roundhouse excavations which sit on top. It’s and ageless view which transports you back thousands of years, I fell in love with this part of wales about five years ago and it never disappoints.

Despite the weather we’ve had a brilliant weekend up at Y Garreg Fawr we’ve been meaning to repaint the kitchen units for a little while and we decided to tackle that this weekend and repaint the bathroom at the same time !, upkeep is a really important part of owning a holiday let and we have a few more plans for improvements later this autumn.
Thanks to all the bookings so far this year, Most of October is still free and so far no one has enquired about Christmas or New Year ! Some brilliant news for electric car owners, now in YFron just a few minutes walk from Y Garreg Fawr located in the old school car park next to the local shop you can now find a row of electric car chargers 🔌, if your looking to use them speak to the staff at the shop and pay £6 per hour to charge during your stay ⚡️🚘

Great to finally get up to the cottage today to mow the lawns and get out the front table and chairs ready for some afternoon sun ☀️even had time for a trip down to Black Rock sands to give the furbabys a run on the beach. It was so hot this weekend we headed over to Traeth Llanddwyn on Anglesey for a cool dip in the clear calm waters, it’s about 35 minutes drive from and you can just make out the lighthouse from the bedroom window if you look carefully, Summer is pretty much booked out but there is still availability for late August and mid September.
