Minnie and sky recommend…

For our dog loving guests who bring their 4 legged friends to stay at Glasfryn.

Our two sheepdogs Minnie and a Skye highly recommend a visit to the site of Cookes Explosives in Penrhyndeudraeth. Fear not as there’s no danger of unplanned explosions as this is now a beautiful nature reserve where you can walk and learn all about its very interesting history and see first hand the great work they are doing to encourage wildlife.

We also recommend for a great breakfast and they are dog friendly too.

Absolutely beautiful picture captured by the incredibly talented Tony Harnett hard to believe it’s actually a photograph taken in the last 2 weeks

Two grieving brothers were left stunned when they paid homage to their parents’ favourite place in the world. Even the skies appeared to be paying tribute their mum above the village of Beddgelert in Eryri (Snowdonia).
Above them a perfect mackerel sky formed, its undulating clouds mirroring ripples on the Afon Colwyn river below. The name was coined because the pattern appears similar to fish scales.
Mackerel clouds are usually a sign of changeable weather. For Tony Harnett and his brother it seemed apposite as their lives were recently turned upside down by the death of their mother: https://bit.ly/45wXmrp

This is what we got up to last weekend when took Marie and the girls from Fresh & Tasty Gresford Nordic Walking through Beddgelert Forest. Ended up with a little liquid refreshment at in Rhyd Ddu. Always worth popping in….

Our Information Centre at Beddgelert will open between the 18th and 26th of February.

The centre is the perfect place to learn about what makes Eryri spectacular as well as advice on visiting sustainably and also stocks fantastic local crafts and produce.
