💷 Saving up for December? Take a read of our Outdoor Adventures on a Budget Blog to learn more about how you get the most for your money.

⭐️ When you first consider your next outdoor adventure, it’s tempting to dream big and plan the mother of all trips. Seeing Three Peaks participants all over your socials and searching for details on the UK’s other big outdoor challenges doesn’t help. It can often make you feel as though it’s not an adventure unless you’re tearing across the country, scaling multiple peaks and generally putting your body through serious strain. In reality, nothing could be further from the truth. Adventure can begin in your own back garden – you don’t have to travel far to enjoy the great outdoors.

⭐️ With this in mind, we think one of the best ways to organise an adventure on a budget is to simplify things. Rather than racing up three peaks, choose one and take your time to explore it thoroughly. Climbing Yr Wyddfa on the Llanberis Path and then returning the next day for a shot at the Snowdon Horseshoe will yield two very different but equally fulfilling experiences.

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 FAQ Fridays 🤔

👉 What if the weather is really bad?

😎 Preparation is key!

⛰ Everyone who signs up to one of our Climb days should be ready for various weathers on their walk. This includes extreme heat as well as wind, rain, low cloud and even snow showers sometimes! As an experienced mountain activity provider, if we deem the incoming weather to be a danger to our walking groups and/or Mountain Leader staff, then we may make alternative arrangements in terms of route planning. This could include walking up as far as we can before turning back or taking an alternative route, i.e. a traverse instead of an ascent, we may even take a group up a smaller neighbouring mountain with views of Yr Wyddfa.

🥾 We'll send you a kit list with your booking confirmation which will prepare you for all weathers. Make sure you read through it carefully and check your kit well in advance of your walk.

🤓 You can read more about cancellations in our Terms and Conditions which you can find at the bottom of any of our websites.

🤩 RAW Adventures and Climb Snowdon have supported Cymdeithas Eryri Snowdonia Society since 2010 and will continue to do so into the future. Did you know that for every person who books onto an event on Yr Wyddfa with us, £1 goes straight to the society?

❤ "Through our conservation work we provide helping hands and a strong voice for Snowdonia’s special landscape. But ultimately it is about the heart – the relationships people have with the nature, landscape and culture of Snowdonia."

🏔 Most people are aware by now of the main 6 paths on Yr Wyddfa, if your daring then you may also know about Crib Goch, the knife edge ridge. But what other walks does our lovely mountain have to offer?

❤ Earlier this year RAW Adventures co-director Kate Worthington wrote a book on this very subject. The book covers 15 different routes on the mountain and you can read three of them in our blog as a taster.

📲 Have a look at our blog to learn more about Kate's top recommended 15 Yr Wyddfa walks.

❤ CRIB GOCH, a mile-long narrow ridge, reaching out from the north-east flank of Wales’ highest mountain. Challenging terrain and exposed drops aren’t for the faint hearted and inexperienced, but does make for one of the best scrambles found in the UK mountains.

😎 New for 2025: we'll be running two Open Group Crib Goch group walks for £79 per person (10th May & 6th Sep). These group walks are for individuals to come together and join other like-minded people on a fantastic adventure. To join this Open group, you need to have considerable mountain experience already.

⛰ f this isn't you, but you still want to try the route, then get in touch about a private walk instead and book a bespoke day with one of our team who will insure both a safe and fun day on the majestic ridge and of course reaching the summit of Yr Wyddfa as well.

🏔 While the mountains are open 365 days per year, this doesn't mean that it's fun to climb them year round. Our latest blog looks at the pro's and con's of climbing Yr Wyddfa in every month of the year.

💐JULY
As we make our way further into the summer, the weather improves, the days stretch out and visitor numbers continue to rise. There is no doubt July is a beautiful time to visit Eryri and there is often a lovely buzz around the local villages and towns. If you want to experience the area in July but don’t want to compete with the summer crowds, there are plenty of other incredible local walking routes to enjoy.

🌺 JULY IS BEST FOR:
• A pre-summer holiday adventure to explore Yr Wyddfa before the year’s busiest month.
• Those willing to look beyond Eryri’s busiest spots and embrace its lesser-known treasures.
• People interested in developing outdoor abilities on a mountain skills course.
🌼 NOT FOR:
• People who come ill-prepared for the summer conditions. Bring plenty of water!
• Anyone who wants the mountain to themselves.

🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 FAQ Fridays 🤔

👉 Can I get the train back down?

😎 The summit station and cafe will be closed for the winter season and usually reopens around the easter Holidays.

❤ According to the Snowdon Mountain Railway website, “Single tickets down are only available on a standby basis at the destination station of the day (Summit or Clogwyn) and walkers should be aware that there is no guarantee of there being trains with available seats on the mountain at any given time. Therefore, if you walk up, you should be prepared to walk down as well.”

🥾 In agreement with Snowdon Mountain Railway, we also encourage walkers that if you want to reach the summit by foot then you will need to accept that you’ll be walking back down too. Our Climb Snowdon days are set up for walkers wanting to walk up and down the mountain.

🏔 Rumoured as Yr Wyddfa's most scenic route, the Watkin path comes with stories as good as its views. Our blog offers an overview of this route including some great advice.

⭐️ The Watkin Path has arguably the most interesting history of any Yr Wyddfa trail. It is named after the Victorian politician and railway pioneer, Sir Edward Watkin

⭐️ Watkin Path is also often experienced Yr Wyddfa climbers’ favourite route. It is less busy than many other paths, offers exquisite views of the mountain and surrounding landscape, is perfect for photographers and moves through several landscapes and environments.

⭐️ The Watkin Path also stands out for the plethora of beautiful trail features you encounter. The waterfalls and pools are possibly the most famous attractions and are wonderfully picturesque in the right conditions. Hit the mountain in good weather, and you may be able to enjoy a mid-walk swim. The remnants of the South Yr Wyddfa Slate Quarry are also fascinating and the Bwlch y Saethau (Pass of the Arrows) has a long history that encompasses both miners and ancient Arthurian legends.

🏔 The Welsh 3000s is one of the toughest mountain challenges in the UK and attracts thousands of participants every year. Traditionally, the goal is to summit 15 peaks (all over 3,000 feet) in one day, although you can also choose to complete it over three days.

🥸 During the challenge you’ll ascend over 4,200m across three magnificent Welsh mountain ranges in spectacular scenery.

🩵 Whether you’re tackling this epic mountain journey solo, for charity or as part of a team, our guided Welsh 3000s events will help you get the very best out of the experience. RAW’s local qualified Mountain Leaders know the route intimately - leaving you free to push yourself to your limit without worrying about navigation.

🤓 You may not know it yet, but we are an experienced provider for charity challenge events, delivering powerful mountain experiences making your fundraisers feel alive in the great outdoors. We care about the impact your charity has on individuals, families and communities. That’s why we’ve ensured our Charity Partner Programme has no financial risk for charities to be part of and has ROI, supporter engagement and fundraising potential in mind.

🩵 We’d love to work together to raise more funds for your charity. There is no charity financial commitment and instead, the commitment we ask is around our working relationship, whereby our joint goal is to increase your fundraising potential through people experiencing what Snowdon has to offer.

⛰ With over 62 dates across three mountains to offer your fundraisers throughout the year, we provide support around participant recruitment, ready-to-go marketing materials, a smooth registration journey with JustGiving integration and opportunities to deepen your relationships with your fundraisers.

👋 We love working with charities and discussing your next fundraising event, whether that’s through our Charity Partner Programme or to explore the possibilities of a bespoke event. From the very first hello (over the phone, video call or face-to-face), all the way to the summit of the mountain, we’re here to help.

☎️ If your charity is looking for a zero-financial risk fundraising event, call 01286 870870 or email us and we’d love to explore how our charity partner programme could work for you and your supporters.

🥾 Not sure where to head out walking in the coming shorter days? We got you! Head over to our blog - The 8 Best Short Walks in Snowdonia - for some inspiration:

⭐️ Ask a hiker what they know about Eryri (Snowdonia) and they’ll often respond with visions of Yr Wyddfa’s (Snowdon) towering peak, tales of tough treks up Watkin Path and stories of exhilarating scrambles over Crib Goch. It’s true that Yr Wyddfa is central to Eryri’s identity. But it would be wrong to reduce that identity to nothing greater than the majesty of a single mountain. Just like it would be wrong to reduce hiking to “conquering” peaks and feats of endurance.

⭐️ Sometimes, the best hikes are brief forays into the great outdoors or relaxed adventures with family or kids who are too young to head up mountains. Sometimes, our favourite walks are the ones we steal in the few spare hours we have in the evening after work or the ones where we feel free to stop, pause and sit by the river a while. With this in mind, we’ve created a list of our eight favourite short walks in Snowdonia. In doing so, we hope to introduce you to a side of Eryri you may not know much about and give you a good excuse to slow down and savour a shorter walk or two.
