Lambing time has arrived here at the barn. We have a few new arrivals already running around the field just outside the kitchen and bedroom window.
Tommy, the ram was keeping a close eye on us as we were feeding the sheep, as were the cats, Dotty and Spicy.
It's a busy time for us, but other than the sounds of the sheep and the birds it is still very peaceful here.

We've had a couple of days of frost here, coupled with beautiful sunshine and blue skies. Winter has arrived.
Luckily it is very warm and cosy in the barn, making it the perfect place to relax and enjoy the view

Early morning (9am ish 😉😊) sunshine just hits differently here at the barn. The shadows are getting longer as the sun stays that bit lower in the sky as we hurtle through Autumn towards Winter. The leaves have started to change colour and some have already fallen to the ground, we're excited to see the trees turn to varying bright oranges especially if we get some more strong sunlight to highlight their colours 🥰 before winter comes
The barn is cosy inside with plenty of soft cwtchy blankets to snuggle under before or after a day of exploring.

In between the rain showers this morning I popped up to the barn to make sure everything was ready for our next guests who are arriving soon.
On my way there I looked up and snapped the first photo. It's not a view of the barn that I share often, but with the blue sky and bright sunshine I couldn't resist sharing as we haven't seen much of the sun over the last few weeks ☔
The view from the window always catches my attention, makes me stop for a minute and take a breath. No coffee with me today so I couldn't linger too long.
Last week the wonderful Mila and Berry came to stay with their lovely owners, who were kind enough to share this photo of Mila patiently showing our dog, Dash how to pose properly for a photo. Unfortunately Dash had other ideas 😂.

After the heatwave last week we seem to be back to cooler and more damp days.
But it's nothing to be too sad about especially when these vibrant colours are just outside the barn door, visible from the dining table they brighten up any drizzly day.
Dotty popped by to say hello as I was leaving the barn, she loves a photo 🥰

Here in Carmarthen we have a wonderful steam railway, which luckily for us is only 3 miles away!
We visited them today and had a fantastic time. The route took us along the River Gwili, on an uphill route through farmland and woodland. While we were on board we were able to purchase yummy cakes and drinks, which kept us going as we enjoyed the journey.
Gwili Railway is a great place to go, either on a dry day like we had today or on a wetter day. It has something to do whatever the weather.
Thanks
for an exciting and fun day out, we'll be back again soon 🥰

After a bit of a dreary morning yesterday, we had wall to wall sunshine in the afternoon which culminated in a beautiful sunset 🥰
If you'd love to experience a sunset view from our holiday barn please get in touch for more information or to book. Our website is in our bio or please send us a message 😊

Let's talk about views, these are just a small selection of the views from the windows in our barn. There are a few missing as we didn't want to spoil the surprise of the view from the master bedroom over the River Towy and the valley it flows through.
Everything is very green again after the recent rain fall. The grass is growing making the sheep very happy.
The weather doesn't look like this today, but even with the rain the views don't disappoint.
The last photo is my mug as I sat for a minute while cleaning the barn for our next guests. It's so hard not to sit for longer just staring at the view....I need a bigger mug so I have a longer excuse for enjoying the calm of the barn ☺️

Glorious colours outside the barn today, not even the grey clouds could dampen them.

After weeks of sunshine we've had a bit of a mixed bag of weather this week.
While I was in the barn I looked out of the window and took this quick picture of the clouds and the view. Even in the rain the view is spectacular towards the valley and the neighbouring church.
There's still plenty to do and see in Carmarthenshire and the nearby counties of Pembrokeshire as well as Ceredigion even when the rain is pouring. Or if you'd prefer to use it as an excuse to take a day to relax in the barn we have cupboards full of dvds, a comfortable sofa and WiFi available.
14/06/2023
Sitting outside the barn is the perfect place to plan your day or to have a meal while enjoying the view.

There's something so peaceful about being in the barn. Whenever I'm in there getting it ready to welcome new guests I have to fight the urge to sit down with a cup of tea and enjoy the quiet while looking at the view through the big window in the sitting room.
The struggle is real, if you'd like to stay and see for yourself we have very few dates available through the summer and September is getting busier too, so be quick 😉
We look forward to welcoming all of our guests over the summer months and we're so grateful to all those who have stayed with us through the autumn, winter and spring 🥰

We've had some wonderful weather here the last few days, the sun has been shining and everything looks greener.
Up in the woods behind the barn there's a carpet of bluebells, they are visible from the bedroom window as well as from the patio area. They give a soft blue hue in the distance.
I took a walk up to the woods, checking-in with the sheep and the alpacas as I went, to get a closer look at the bluebells.

It's a wet and windy day here today, but last week the weather was gloriously sunny especially when we went to near Tenby. The new climbing frame was a huge hit with the children as was the indoor soft play area, the bouncy castle and the hay barn.
Once we finished playing we went to see the animals that the park is home to. The rabbits are our favourites.
Manor House Wildlife Park is 38 minutes/28 miles away from our location, and very close to Tenby where we like to stop on our way home for some chips and ice cream.

Today we took the dogs for a walk along Llansteffan beach and up to Llansteffan Castle. There's so much space for them to run around when the tide is out and when it's in there's a lovely clifftop walk to take in the sights.
The beach has a play park for children, a cafe, a chip shop, an ice cream shop as well as free parking and public toilets. There is also a pub in the village as well.
It's the perfect place for a walk and it's only 11 miles from us.
If you time it just right you might get to experience a beautiful sunset
Bookings are being taken from the beginning of May, the summer holidays are very popular already so please get in touch if you'd like more information or to book

As half term draws to a close here in Wales, our minds are turning towards the lighter spring evenings which will eventually become the long Summer days.
We took this photo last August after a very sunny day, we sat in the garden and took a moment to enjoy the view. Luckily our holiday barn enjoys this same view, it also has a bench to sit on to watch the sun eventually dip below the horizon.
Our calendar is open now for bookings in May and beyond. Stuart and I look forward to welcoming you soon

As time draws closer for lambing to start these ladies get more and more eager to see me and my bucket. Today they put on a great show posing for some photos and saying hello. Can you spot Frankie and Betty, our alpacas? They couldn't help but join in the photoshoot fun, along with our ram, Tony.
The barn is available for booking from May onwards, please DM for more information or visit our website (link in bio)

After a couple of lovely sunny days we are back to the rain again 😩
The great thing (although there are a few to choose from) about our holiday barn is that you can sit inside on our very comfortable sofa with a cup of tea or coffee or even a glass of something stronger and enjoy the view of the rain outside, all while being snuggly warm.
The heating keeps the barn cosy warm, but for that added snuggle factor we have some very soft and thick blankets placed around the barn. Perfect for a winter's day 🥰

Cosy and welcoming holiday cottage on the outskirts of the market town of Carmarthen, Carmarthenshire. This recently renovated cottage is a former barn located on our peaceful 30 acre small holding - home to sheep, pigs, chickens and even a couple of alpacas! This cottage offers a perfect base if you are looking for a rural break within striking distance of the stunning beaches and countryside of West Wales, combined with the convenience of the shops and amenities Carmarthen has to offer.
Yr Hen Stablau at Wenallt
The cottage sleeps 4-5 people in two bedrooms (one double and one twin, with the option of an additional child’s size bed if required). We welcome well behaved dogs. Please be aware that we do have livestock on the small holding so dogs would need to be under the owner’s control at all times.
The cottage has a bathroom (with shower) and a well-equipped kitchen ideal for self catering, including a dishwasher and washing machine. There is a separate dining area, a lounge and access to a private patio area with enclosed, lawned garden. Garden furniture and a barbecue are provided for guest use. Parking is available for 2-3 vehicles. Throughout the cottage there are beautiful, relaxing views over the River Tywi and open farmland.
The holiday cottage is located close to, but separate from, our own house. We are happy to offer information on local walks and beaches, attractions, places to eat and anything else we can help with - please just ask!
Additional amenities
If you are a keen fisher, or tempted to try, we can offer local fishing on the River Tywi - a river known for its sewin and salmon.
