On Friday evening, my lovely friend Mamake Precious aka Florence, posted on Facebook about the fundraising we’re doing to raise funds for her beautiful daughter, Precious Miracle, to have the operation she needs to rectify scarring through burns received whilst saving her life at birth. She received a barrage of heartbreaking, vile, racist comments that left her reeling and devastated, and her friends, family and complete strangers angry on her behalf. I’m happy to say the people with warm, kind hearts appeared to be in the majority, which I pray they are after all of the racist, violent riots that we’ve seen happening across the country this week.
Mamake is the word for mother in Kenya where Florence is from. Her Facebook name literally means Mother of Precious Miracle, her little miracle who survived despite the odds. Please read her story on her Gofundme page for more details of Miracle’s traumatic start in life. https://gofund.me/4b266b23
