A recent review from some more happy guests

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in this beautiful, well-appointed farmhouse in the fields outside a small Gloucestershire village. Sheila and Nigel couldn't have been more hospitable and accommodating in welcoming us to their lovely cottage. The beds and linen were comfortable, plenty of hot water in modern bathrooms lovely bucolic views out of every window, a ridiculously colourful and opulent rose garden, a variety of herbs and flowers around the house. We enjoyed walks around the area, through the cow fields and over the public footpaths that pass through the property. Our hosts were extremely responsive in dealing with little hiccups that popped up and welcomed us almost as personal house guests. We would love to stay again. Thank you so much, Sheila and Nigel!

Here are a couple of recent reviews......

Scrupulously clean, comfortable , warm and well-equipped in a tranquil rural setting, this property was an ideal stepping off point for various sights in the Cotswolds. Our thoughtful owner had also furnished us with a range of foods, including a delicious cake. We had a thoroughly enjoyable stay.

We had a fabulous time at Sheila’s cottage. The facilities are excellent, and there is a lot of room. We were 4 adults with 2 infants and a dog, and had ample space. There were many thoughtful touches too that made our stay memorable – from a freshly baked cake, to locally reared sausages, bacon, eggs, and fresh bread which served us well during the stay. The house is ideally located for exploring the Cotswolds, and is a short walking distance away from the Cotswold Way. There is a lot of space for dogs to run about if you are bringing a pet. Overall, we enjoyed our stay and would definitely return where we to stay in the Cotswolds again. Highly recommend

Our very first guests since October enjoyed their stay at the Farmhouse - here is their review.

“My family and I had a wonderful stay at Sheila’s place. There are lots to do in the nearby villages but we much preferred when we were staying local and explored the paths and woods around the farm. An amazing place for children. The house is super comfy with everything you could ask for, the hosts incredibly welcoming, and the gardens very pretty with very nice views of the countryside around. We hope to be back soon!”

“Thank you Sheila for our wonderful stay. Nigel and yourself have made our first holiday post lockdown extra special. Thanks for having us visit the farm, letting the children pick up eggs and play with the dogs. It was amazing!”

So not surprisingly we are having to close the doors to Castle Barn Farmhouse Holidays until the end of the lockdown.
Having had a great few months of welcoming some lovely guests, with the first being the 19th July 2020, we have accommodated a total of 139 people in just over three months!
Looking forward to when we can open our lovely house and surrounding countryside with some more great guests.

Here is a review from our last guests before lockdown......

“This is a very, very comfortable house. Even in the cold and wet the house is totally warm with zero draft. The beds and linen are gorgeous, the bathrooms are of posh hotel standard, the kitchen equipped for a banquet. Lots of touches like cake, eggs and bacon and super friendly hosts who obviously love the house and really care. Our boys had a tour of the cows in their sheds which they loved! We loved it here on the farm and will be back, for sure.”

Some more autumn colors complete with rainbow and another review from some more recent happy guests

“We had a fantastic stay at Sheila and Nigel’s farm - They are very thoughtful hosts! The house was sparkling clean upon arrival and made us feel very comfortable given the COVID circumstances. The kids really enjoyed observing all the activities surrounding their working farm, and the slow and quiet walks around their fields were exactly what we all were looking for. Their kitchen has everything you could need, which easily turned a quiet, rainy day into a perfect day for a roast. The location is great - Easy enough to pop over to a pub and we found some good restaurants just a short drive away in any direction. Drives to the classic Cotswold towns were also quick and easy!”

Three of the farms residents enjoying a socially distanced breakfast together

Another great review from some more lovely happy guests :)

“What a lovely place to stay with a charming, attentive and thoughtful hosts throughout our stay! An idyllic, well appointed and apportioned accommodation that suited all our needs and great to be in the middle of a working farm with animals and activity all around to watch, along with lots of great walking opportunities to local pubs and other venues. In a CV-19 world in 2020 all the appropriate requirements were well adhered to, made things very easy to comply and we couldn't have had a more relaxed time together. I had high expectations but these were exceeded and we consider ourselves very fortunate to have found such a lovely accommodation to base ourselves for our Cotswold visit. Highly recommended.”

Last weekend was the worst weather for months - Indi thought the best thing to do was was have a couple of duvet days!

A review from our guests from the 'wet' weekend.

“Great stay! We were hit by possibly the worst three/four days of weather possible, not ideal in the Cotswolds but at least we had a great base to stay - Sheila was very helpful from the very start when messaging before our trip, and when we got there she left us a cake! The little touches like that made for a memorable weekend even if the rain was falling 99% of the time - great amenities - kitchen perfect to cook up great dinners, the shower 10/10 and beds very comfortable”

“Absolutely amazing place! Ideally located for beautiful walks and beautiful scenery. Sheila was a great hostess, the house was spotless and had everything there and more. The bbq is great, loads of outdoor space and inside too. Arrived to a home baked cake which was a very thoughtful touch. Would highly recommend for a remote place to stay with friends or family.”

“Absolutely fantastic place. Nestled in the heart of Cotswolds, this is a true cotswold experience with an excellence, sparkly clean, chic, classy spacious, greenery laden house surrounded by acres of green farmland, hills and their animals on the barn. Would definitely recommend for a memorable stay.”

Another review from some great guests who visited to celebrate two birthdays. I was asked to organize balloons and flowers as a surprise for their arrival
