Overview of Quay Quarters
Apuldram Manor Farm is located on the edge of Chichester Harbour (ANOB), just 2 miles south west of the city of Chichester. It comprises of 650 acres of grassland, arable fields and a copse which is nestled in behind Chichester Marina. There are countless beauty spots around the farm which are either overlooking the water or our conservation plots of wild flowers. There are many spectacular views towards the South Downs National Park and Chichester Cathedral also. The harbour and farm provide the perfect habitat for a wide array of wildlife, from the many species of wading birds that sift through the mud at low tide, to the deer, pheasants, partridge and hares that can be found roaming the farm land in search of their next meal. You may also encounter many domesticated animals we have ranging from our 3 Labradors and terrier who you will find patrolling the area to the many horses who you will find out in their paddocks chomping away at the grass.
The farm is managed by the Sawday family, who came to the farm in 1959. Back then the main enterprises were the crops, dairy herd and Apuldram Roses which use to occupy Rose Cottage and the garden. Since then a lot has changed with the 2nd generation of the family converting the beautiful flint barns into what is now Quay Quarters. Unfortunately, the dairy herd is gone, but in its place, we have transformed the front of the manor house into a luxury BB. Which consists of two very spacious en-suite rooms, that give a real sense of an idyllic life in the English countryside. Although, Apuldram Roses has changed location, they still grow all their stock on the farm and the rose field is a sight to behold when in full bloom. It doesn’t stop there though, the 3rd generation are now a vital part in the day to day management of both the farm and cottages. So, you could certainly say it’s a family run business.
