Self Catering Properties in Lake District
The Howe's unique position on a hilltop inside the Lake District National Park gives views through 360 degrees - to the north and west into Scotland and to the south and east to Skiddaw and the Lorton Vale The access off a quiet country lane and along a farm drive adds to it's seclusion and the location is excellent for exploring the northern Lakes, fells
and coast. This traditional Lakeland farmstead has been sensitively converted by the resident owners, whose home it has been since 1968. The mews and cottage are detached and in separate courtyards, whilst the farmhouse is attached to the large barn where the family live. The privacy and comfort which the Howe provides creates a peaceful and relaxing setting - ideal for mini breaks or a longer stay. The Mosser fells offer hours of walking with magnificent views across Loweswater, Crummock and Buttermere to Great Gable and the fells start but a short walk from the cottage. There are opportunities for other activities in the area including fishing, pony trekking and water sports on Bassenthwaite Lake and Derwentwater. The landscape painter need move no further than our land for inspiration. The nearest shops are 3 miles away in Cockermouth, a delightful historic town which still retains the characteristics of a market town serving a farming community as well as being the well known birthplace of William Wordsworth and Fletcher Christian
