Summer arrived here on the Solway Coast yesterday 🌞⛱
So what better time than to announce that this Summer season which will end in September, is our sixth and it’s time for me to hang up my apron, dustpan and brush! Yes Skeena Lodge is no longer taking any more bookings. I have really enjoyed making our wee lodge ‘home from home’. Yes I will miss many aspects of the holiday home but have other plans closer to family home planned.
Very many thanks to all our guests that have supported us through the last six years! Some folks have visited once and others have become regulars. Thank you for looking after our wee lodge and wishing you all many happy future holidays!

The sun is up the sky is blue and Spring has sprung here at the wee lodge on the Solway 🤗
Looks like there is going to be a good crop of apples here in the garden this year!
Still a few vacancies available for holidays too! Fully fenced in garden for four legged friends 🐾🐾
oh! and the grandchildren too are safe whilst you have a cheeky ice cream in the sunroom 🍦
☂️rainy days? well we have a fully stocked cupboard of DVD’s, plenty of games in the game cupboard and a great cupboard right by the boiler for drying clothes! What more could you ask for?

Unfortunately Southerness and many areas in SW Scotland and our wee lodge is included have been without power since Friday evening. Storm Arwen hit some of our area hard. Our current guests have ‘abandoned ship’ and gone home for a warm! Let’s not forget that SP Networks are working hard and often through the night to rectify the problems for us all.

AUTUMN UPDATE
Hoping that this post finds you all well, and looking forward to the festive season 🎄
I have an unfortunate update regarding any 2022 bookings for our wee lodge.
Following the end of season Autumn🍁clean and freshen up at the wee lodge it has been discovered that unfortunately the sofa bed in the lounge area has sustained damage over the 2021 season. I know not who, when or how it has occurred, however I have experienced trampolines with similar ‘spring’ damage!
Upon detailed inspection it has been discovered that the ‘hefty’ spring that assists the folding out mechanism had at some point been dislocated and jammed within the framework, causing some substantial bending of the bed supports (not the sofa) making it fragile to fold up!
Unfortunately whilst the damage is ‘home DIY’ repairable, re attaching the substantial spring, however we are unable to straighten the metalwork (so not a 100% repair).
We are approaching a sixth season of business, in the long term it is not viable for me to purchase a new sofa bed as I am planning on winding down the business in approximately 18 months time.
I am therefore reluctantly informing you that for the coming 2022 season that the lodge is only available for use with the double bed and twin beds and therefore up to four persons (not 6) and four legged friends are of course very welcome🐾🐾. Generally there will be no use of the sofa bed in the lounge. I do apologies for the inconvenience if you were planning on making a family booking. If you have any questions about a booking - please get in touch!

We are now at the tail end of our block bookings for 2021 Skeena Lodge holidays! It’s been a busy Summer and Autumn with more than 28 bookings since the end of 17 weeks of lockdown in April. Our current guests are enjoying a quiet welcome break, and last evening the moon and stars shone perfectly across the Solway. The harvest moon has been stunning in recent weeks and the very bright ‘star’ in the south is the planet Jupiter a mere 365 million miles away. Did you know? It is now ILLEGAL for the general public to set fireworks off before 6pm and after 11pm in the evening (this extends to midnight on 5th November and 1am on New Year's Eve, Chinese New Year and Diwali).

Today was a change over day, with a wee bit of time to spare, our next guests arrive tomorrow. I looked at the visitors book and suddenly realised that it was six years ago that we purchased Skeena during October 2015 and then started our wee holiday rental in March 2016. So with that in mind it is well time for a change in the twin bed room. Who knows what will follow, regular guests please comment on what you would like to see in our wee lodge at the sea! !

Great views of Gillfoot Beach and Criffel this morning from our wee lodge, yesterday was very dreich. Wind today is making large waves and the warmth is fungi weather. Its a changeover day and one lucky ‘pup’ Molly 🐾🐾 is making way for three new arrivals tomorrow, that’s twelve little toes to dry! Plus their houmans ! Some lovely weather here on the Scottish Riviera, these views were taken earlier this evening a little way west along the coast from our wee lodge at Southerness. Its been blue, blue and more blue every afternoon this week, misty mornings though so make sure you bring sweater or jacket if you are staying along the Solway in the coming weeks. Here you can see Cumbria in the distance with Robin Rigg wind turbines spinning majestically in the Solway providing our power efficiently.

*up to 6 people from 2 households can socialise indoors in a public place such as a café or restaurant
*unrestricted travel within Scotland, England and Wales (subject to other local restrictions in place)
*all shops, stores and close contact services can open
hospitality venues like cafes, pubs and restaurants can open until:
20:00 indoors (no alcohol)
*local licensing laws apply outdoors (alcohol permitted)
*non-essential childcare permitted
*non-essential in-house work permitted

*tourist accommodation to reopen (self-catering accommodation to be restricted in line with rules on indoor gathering)

*driving lessons and tests can take place
*funerals and weddings including post-funeral events and receptions can take place with up to 50 people (alcohol permitted)
*gyms and swimming pools can reopen for individual exercise
*indoor attractions and public buildings such as galleries, museums and libraries can open
*takeaway food can be collected indoors

Well goodness me! What an exciting afternoon at our wee lodge! 4 seasons in one day! And despite the snow we are ready for our first guests of 2021 on 26th April (certainly a big day in Scotland ). Our wee lodge has been freshly painted and 100% thanks to MrP what a star 👍🌟 she looks a treasure! we certainly have missed our regulars and its really great that our first guests are one of our regulars arriving on Monday 26th. Happy Holiday to Tom, Jean and wee Millie!🐾🐾

We are getting excited and nearly ready to start greeting guests again and certainly working towards the end of April for opening to our first visitor of the season. 16C, blue skies and the lawns have received there first mow and strim, we have our Canadian cedar wood lodge outside wood painting planned for next week, window cleaning, spider’s evicted, new mattress and so much more to enhance your stay at Skeena.
