We start Lucy’s Place 2024 wellbeing community meets on Sunday 14th April with a coastal geology walk along the beautiful East Lothian Coast. You will be guided by Dr Richard Phillips. Richard has an academic background as a lecturer in Structural Geology and Geohazards and will share his knowledge and expertise of the local geology. White Sands offers the most extensive limestone outcrops in the central belt. We will take a short walk from White Sands to Barns Ness and step back over 300 million years to a time of coral reefs, lagoons and coal-forming forests. Lots of opportunity for fossil hunting and a good spot for a picnic!
Geology walks such as this have positive impacts on health and wellbeing. It is a form of mindfulness activity in that you are bringing your awareness to the natural environment in the present moment. You can let the worries and stresses of the day float away and bring your attention to the world around you. It will also increase knowledge, sense of achievement and above all it will be fun!
If you are interested in taking part please complete an application. These are available at Carfrae Farm shop and Beech and Birch. Electronic applications are available on request from [email protected]. Applications need to be received at least two weeks prior to the specific activity. The deadline for this activity is therefore 31st March 2024. Please get your application in as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.
