Sheldrick Wildlife Trust's is on Tuesday, November 28th! It's a fantastic opportunity to contribute to a very worthwhile cause. The main focus of the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust is to support orphaned elephants, rescuing them from the wild and nurturing them in Nairobi National Park under the attentive care of their dedicated team of keepers. Once they outgrow the nursery, the elephants are transferred to one of SWT's reintegration units, where they eventually transition to living independently in the wild. Additionally, SWT is actively involved in Anti-Poaching efforts and leads 23 Anti-Poaching teams in Kenya.

is an annual event during which the philanthropic partners of SWT will match all donations made dollar-for-dollar. If you're interested in contributing to the conservation of Kenya's orphaned elephants, visit the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust website on November 28th to make a donation. 🐘

Today we’re celebrating the 50th anniversary of the endangered species act! The act was put in place to protect and conserve endangered and threatened species and their habitats around the world. There are currently approximately 1,350 endangered species in Africa, from the better-known pangolin, black rhino, eastern and western gorillas, African elephant and wild dogs, to the lesser-known, Pickersgill’s reed frog, cape vulture, riverine rabbit and the golden mole - to name but an unfortunate few. Across land, sea and sky, a great many species are fighting to survive the impact of habit loss, poaching, trafficking and pollution. To find out more about how you can play your part in helping to protect endangered species in Africa and beyond, visit endangered.org/campaigns/endangered-species-day/. wildlife .

Today we’re celebrating Earth Day! At Farside Africa we take our responsibility to reduce our environmental impact seriously and our love of Africa is at the heart of everything we do. We offset our long-distance flights by paying monthly to Ecolgi who plant trees on our behalf to offset our carbon footprint. The lodges we use in Africa provide employment to people from the local area who in turn support their extended family with their income in the travel industry. Our lodges buy locally sourced products wherever possible and are switching to renewable energy for their power, including electric vehicles and boats. Today is World Pangolin Day and sadly, despite today marking the 11th anniversary of pangolins being awarded their own day to raise awareness of their plight – they remain the world’s most trafficked animal. These gentle, shy mammals are covered in scales, ironically designed to protect them. Their scales are made of keratin and have no proven medicinal value, yet they’re used in traditional medicine in the far east and even as jewellery. This demand fuels illegal trade and despite international efforts, several species of pangolin are now on the brink of extinction. Check out what you can do to help at worldwildlife.org/pages/save-the-pangolins and let’s pull together to save these amazing animals before it’s too late!
