Sad news about the Witness Trees, looks like nature has taken her toll on one of them in the recent stormy weather. Oor Mark and his guests braved the usual wasps to discover that one of the trees has had a large part break away. Thankfully not vandalism but still sad to see

Glasgow Mural trail

This post from back in 2021 has peaked some interest so we thought we would share it again!!! .

These magnificent murals are part of a Mural trail which is located on various buildings across Glasgow City Centre.

The street murals are helping to brighten up previously run down streets adding a splash of colour and turning them into fabulous pieces of street art.

Glasgow is a unique City to explore full of art and culture with some fascinating history as well.

The last picture depicts the humour that Glasgow is renowned for 😀

We highly recommend viewing some of these fantastic murals when visiting Glasgow.

Taken a couple of months ago, but we just wanted to share this beautiful shot of .castle. The atmosphere felt here when you let the evening birdsong wash over you is beyond amazing. While Outlander has brought the Hopetoun Estate to the notice of people world wide, but it’s actually a truly special place, the echos of the past whisper all over and you just have to take a moment to listen. The position of the castle gives the most amazing sun light at sunset.

Drumlanrig Castle

Todays post and photos are of the magnificent Drumlanrig Castle located in Dumfries and Galloway.
 
The castle is home to the Duke and Duchess of Buccleuch and Queenberry. Known as the “Pink Palace” of Drumlanrig, it was constructed between 1679 and 1689 from distinctive pink sandstone.
 
The first Duke of Queensberry had the castle built on the site of an ancient Douglas stronghold overlooking the Nith Valley. The castle has 120 rooms, 17 turrets and four towers.
 
In 1984 aerial photography revealed the outline of a substantial Roman fort about 350 yards south east of the castle. The fort was excavated in 2004 by Tony Robinson’s Time Team programme.
 
The castle is also home to some incredible art. There are Rembrandt and a Leonardo Da Vinci paintings as well as some stunning tapestries and objects of art.
 
The earliest record of Drumlanrig is  from 1384 and translates as long ridge.
 
Outlander fans will instantly recognise Drumlanrig Castle as the Duke Of Sandringhams estate , Bellhurst manor.
The exterior and some of the interior rooms were used in filming.

It truly is an incredible place to visit and is family, Walker and cycling friendly. Down from the castle is access to the gardens and there is a fabulous adventure playground for the kids and a reasonably priced café selling sandwiches, coffee and other light refreshments.

Apologies for the socials being a little quieter than usual, but the season is now in full swing! We will have some more fresh, new reels up in the coming days. But for now here is a collage of the last couple of days out with the ladies!!

It has been an absolute blast and we have also been able to call on the expertise of some of our amazing friends along the way who have helped enrich the ladies experiences further! .castle ‘s James gave a wonderful impromptu tour of every Outlander fan’s favourite castle, and where else to shop than who not only put on the fizz for a private shopping experience but also gave some insight on the BTS of owning part of an Outlander filming location.

To experience Scotland to the fullest you need a multilayered combination of sites, interactions with various people, a freeness to enjoy yourself and an acceptance of weather being weather! If this sounds like you then Scotland is waiting for you!

Another group of Peakers out on tour today from Japan! Out with oor kev a stop at the Witness Trees was just one of the stops on their bespoke Outlander tour! We have another multi guided tour with the incredible Peakers who are in Scotland for MPC gala, such an inspirational bunch of people whose individual journeys are fantastic to hear.

We have our first amazing group of Peakers out with us today!! Here for the Gala this weekend they have decided to have some Outlander time!!! What a laugh is being had by all today. We still have spaces tomorrow if you would like to have your own Outlander Peaker memories!

Sporting the wind swept, sleet soaked look while filming some of the fleet up in Glenshee yesterday! This is the reason why Scottish women don’t bother to do their hair in any fancy styles for 5 months of the year…or that’s my excuse! We have such a laugh when out and about creating reels etc….but damn…do we have to pick the coldest place in Scotland 😂🤣 of course we do!!! Glenshee is one of Scotland’s hidden gems, and as such we would never have managed such footage in somewhere like Glencoe. If you are in a Balmoral tour, you will get chance to experience this really remote and wild part of Scotland.

And just like that the season has kicked off! Today was the last day the Fab Four were about to go out on an adventure! We probably won’t see much of each other now till October and certainly not likely to be all four of us in the same place at the same time!

Keep your eyes peeled tomorrow for a reel introducing some of the stunning fleet of cars that take our customers on fantastic adventures across Scotland. Unfortunately the weather wasn’t all that kind with a bit of snow, wind and rain! (Hence one of us sporting the hair frizz look!) but as ever when we meet up the laughter and banter keeps the atmosphere sunny!

In Glencoe, Easter Monday is celebrated as Cruinneachadh Uighean. On this day, the Easter Bunny gathers its highland glen companions to assist in gathering all the eggs that Scottish children have accidentally dropped down the mountainsides. These eggs are boiled, placed in trays, and baked until they turn black. The red deer then stomp on the rock-hard substance with their sharp hooves. Afterwards, the broken pieces are packed into sacks and sold to Santa, who uses them as a green alternative to coal for the naughty kids at Christmas.

The season has officially kicked off!!! Oor Kev was out with Cindy and her lovely family creating some truly special memories visiting castles, lochs and the jewel of the highlands, Glencoe.
