Still, skiing? We've got three fantastic tips that will help your spring skiing!

Slushy snow can be a challenge to navigate, but with these tips, you'll be gliding effortlessly through the slush and having the time of your life.

Firstly, make sure you have the right equipment. Choosing the right skis will make all the difference in slushy conditions. Opt for wider skis with a softer flex. The wider skis will help you float on top of the slush, while the softer flex will provide better control and maneuverability. Additionally, consider getting skis with a rockered design. The rockered tips and tails will prevent the skis from getting caught in the slush, allowing for smoother turns and a more enjoyable skiing experience.

Secondly, adjust your technique. Slushy snow requires a slightly different approach compared to skiing on groomed or powder snow. To maintain control and prevent your skis from sinking into the slush, keep your weight centered and slightly forward. This will help you stay on top of the snow and avoid any unnecessary falls. Additionally, be more active with your turns. Use your edges to dig into the slush and initiate your turns earlier than usual. This will allow you to maintain speed and control throughout your descent.

Lastly, embrace the slush! Instead of fighting against it, embrace the unique challenges that slushy snow presents. Treat it as an opportunity to work on your balance and agility. Slushy conditions can be unpredictable, so stay loose and go with the flow. Don't be afraid to experiment with different lines and techniques. Remember, skiing is all about having fun, and slushy snow offers a whole new level of excitement and adventure.

What a morning on the slopes.

After yesterday's snow, we have been treated to perfect pistes that were mega grippy and supper fun!

It's no wonder they are so good. We have had more snow in the high-altitude resorts than the last two winters combined. The snowfall is a meter above average in resorts like and .

This season in the Alps has seen an impressive amount of snowfall so far. In fact, the snowfall has exceeded the average, and the slopes above 1800m have a good snow depth that will likely last until the end of the season.

Here are the current snowfall measurements for our resorts:
Tignes: 671cm (average: 572cm)
Val Thorens: 775cm (average: 566cm)
Les Menuires: 370cm (average: 312cm)

However, it's worth noting that the warm weather in January has had an impact on the conditions, particularly in resorts at lower altitudes.

To ensure our guests have a worry-free experience when it comes to snow, we choose high-altitude resorts for all our chalets. This includes locations such as Tignes, Val d'Isère, Reberty 2000, and Val Thorens.

Let's do a loop of the Tignes Funicular. From 2100m to 3000m and back. The Tignes funicular is a marvel of engineering that takes you to some incredible high-mountain skiing! Stretching over 3,500 meters, it's a single-track reversible wonder with a height difference of 920 meters. The average gradient is around 26%, peaking at an exhilarating 30%. Hop on board with each train accommodating 334 passengers, weighing 32 tonnes, and capable of handling a max load of 26 tonnes! Covering 3.5 kilometres in just 7 minutes, it zooms at a maximum speed of 12 m/s! 🚀. Introducing Chalet Appaloosa, a charming new addition to our collection for the 2023/24 season. Nestled above the town and just a short stroll up the hill from Rue de la Balme and our other #valdisere chalets, this chalet is a delightful retreat. Built into the steep hillside, it offers captivating views across the resort. Spanning five floors (accessible by a lift on all levels except the mezzanine), the chalet features sleeping accommodations spread across two floors. The generously sized rooms boast a seating area, ensuite bathroom, and balcony, providing a comfortable and scenic haven. The lowest floor hosts a wellness area with a large #hottub and a steam room for ultimate relaxation. The communal spaces are divided into two parts, with the dining room adjacent to the open-plan kitchen. Ascend the stairs to the mezzanine, tucked under the eaves, where soft seating surrounds a cozy fireplace—perfect for unwinding after a day on the slopes. Conveniently located approximately 100m away at the bottom of the hill, the bus stop allows easy access to Val D’Isère’s excellent bus service to the slopes and town.
