Wonderful day in London up here for a CPD course which may or may not include the simulated sawing off of a limb as we learn about the history of surgery!!!

I went up to the top of the dome of St Pails and the. Took the much more leisurely express elevator up to the garden on the roof of 120 Fenchurch Street!

Had a wonderful weekend exploring London... it really is a varied city!

On Saturday I was down around Brixton for the day looking at some of the fantastic artwork! The first picture is of a rather fantastically named cocktail bar and the second is of the mural of David Bowie that became so famous after his death.

In Sunday I walked up through Kensington and also through Mayfair and Piccadilly. The picture is of the Royal Arcade where Oscar Wilde used to buy his flowers!!

I love the way that in Birmingham the old and the new beautifully blend into one! The church is St Martins in the Bullring next to the new Bullring Shopping Centre and the Selfridges Building and the statue of Horacio Nelson.

The Magistrates Court in Birmingham is one of my favourite buildings in the city!

The first stone was laid by Queen Victoria in 1887, her golden jubilee year! It is made from terracotta which is great in a city that has been so industrial because the pollution and soot just washes off and doesn’t stain the stone!!

What a great day for research for a Shakespeare Tour next week, in Stratford-upon-Avon! Had a great time going around several of the sites of interest throughout the town including the garden in two of the pictures which is the site of the New Place. New Place was the site of house which Shakespeare bought in 1597 as his family home; the house was renovated and completely changed in 1709 but then was knocked down in 1759 by the Rev Gastrell!!

St James Church Chipping Campden is a Wool Church meaning it was built by one of the wealthy wool merchants of the Cotswolds as a way of buying their way into heaven. The man who had a great influence on this one is William Greville ‘the flower of the wool merchants of all England’.

Arlington Row devoid of people! It’s like stepping back in time walking along beside these weavers cottages! The Row was built around 1380 as a monastic wool store and then it was turned into weavers cottages in the 1600s!

A beautiful day with a group of Americans walking around Pentire, Polzeath and around St Enodoc Church! St Enodoc Church is a beautiful 12th century church in the sand dunes of Daymer Bay at Trebetherick in Cornwall!
