Long time no see!
But we haven’t been completely lazy, as our Instagram account might show actually 😅
We have been trying out new recipes, some of them from cookbooks we’ve got and some of them found online.
For days like this 🥵 it’s nice to have refreshing, yet delicious wee dessert - lemon 🍋 tart!

Today I made some home baked bread rolls and a nice olive and herbs loaf.

Kneading the dough is tough on the arms, but the most challenging part of this bake was certainly in finding yeast available in the shops. Hunted all over for it in a good few shops, but nope, nothing. Between the yeast and flour hard to find, it seems like the whole country have became bakers.

In the end it was an act of selfless kindness that I managed to get some. I asked one of the in store bakers at a sainsbury's store in Glasgow if there was by any chance any yeast I could buy.
Wasn't a surprise when she said it was all sold out, but was so nice that without and struggle, she gave me a lump of fresh yeast to help me out.

Left me completely humbled, and also reminded me in these times the importance of helping each other out. Yes it's natural to want to look after our close ones and ourselves first, but we can all help each other out with small acts of kindness that go a long way ❤

As some of you probably already know, today is Earth day 🌍
But did you know that as little as even looking at scenes of nature improves our mental health, reduces stress, blood pressure and heart rate? Yup, its scientifically proven that nature heals - not just something I made up 😉

During these times, like most we are missing being outdoors, going camping, having picnics in the park and enjoying the beautiful Earth we live on.
For now all we can do is look at the photo's from our albums and makes us appreciate it even more.

Its important to remember that these days will pass and things will get back to normal. For now it's worth the sacrifice of missing what we are used to doing, but let's just look forward to getting back to getting out and enjoying this wonderful world.

Happy Easter from Alexander and I!

Hope everyone is fit, well and keeping as positive as can be on this Easter Sunday.

Since being in lockdown for the past 3 weeks, we’ve found that we are enjoying cooking (and eating 😜) very much so. Today we both worked together and came up with a feast to celebrate this day.
The sun’s been shining here in Glasgow as well and hope it has where you are too.

Stay safe everyone and keep positive.

I think by now, majority of us might struggle with being creative and motivated, we all miss certain things, places and people.
The photo does not show what I miss the most, but today I took my time to make a new dish - katsu curry with tenderstem broccoli, breaded tofu and soba noodles, with sprinkles of sesame seeds and spring onion.
I really enjoyed making it for my boyfriend and I, not to mention eating it, it was pure deliciousness!
If you now have a bit more time than usual, check all your cookbooks, maybe something will inspire you to try your cooking skills! Good luck 🤩

As today is international women's day, I would like to take this moment to write about a very special woman in my life called Diana.
A strong, intelligent and wise young lady, who is constantly trying to make the world a better place! I am so proud of her
👩‍🎓💪🧠
This photo was taken on the first trip I had the pleasure of sharing with Diana to the fairypools on the Isle of Skye.

The fine people of Glasgow are well know for being a bit different - in a good way of course. The Citys official moto of "people make Glasgow" is definitely a fitting term.

Here we are outside Glasgows gallery of modern art where the Duke of Wellington statue takes pride of place.
Although the Duke is most famous for his efforts in defeating Napoleon at the battle of Waterloo, not in Glasgow he isn't!

Since the 80's, people - usually a bit tipsy have been making the climb to crown him with a traffic cone on his head.
For over 40 years Glasgow city council has been trying to remove the cone, with no success. Costing the council around £10,000 each year In removals, in 2013 they decided it's just part of our cheeky character and just to leave it be.
It still remains there to this day and is certainly a iconic figure in this city and a must see in Glasgow! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿🐴

Here we are on one of Scotlands most well known mountains called Ben Lomond. Situated in the picturess Scottish Highlands and surrounded by the bonnie, bonnie banks of Loch Lomond, the challenge to climb to the top is popular with both tourists and locals.

With icy underfoot conditions - and tired legs, on this occasion we decided that we had pushed ourselves enough and made the joint decision to start the descent back to the bottom without quite making it to the summit.
Although naturally, we were left feeling a bit disappointed and had to swallow some of our pride, we still achieved so much and had a great, safe day - which is the important thing!
Ben Lomond has been there for thousands of years and will remain there for many more, so it's also important that we keep this feeling and go back to take it on again with the motivation to better our last efforts and get to the top.

If you fancy joining us on a wee adventure, everyone is welcome!
Alexander.

Pancake Day today!

Did you know, that pancake races have been around for centuries?
The all-female annual Pancake Race began in the town of Olney, England in 1445. Legend says, it was inspired by a hurried housewife arriving at church on Shrove Tuesday still clutching her frying pan, complete with the pancake! Since 1950, the race has become an international event.

I’m not aspiring to take part in the race, instead, without any hurry, I made savory crepes, made of teff flour with chia seeds, harissa cream cheese, maple aubergine, sautéed mushrooms and asparagus!
Very filling, perfect for lunch!

Enjoy D x

Although I really love to cook from home, there's just sometimes you feel like sitting down and being served some tasty food in the comfort of a restaurant or cafe.

Mono, is a vegan cafe bar situated in the Merchant City area of Glasgow. With it's delicious food and drink, a welcoming and peaceful environment, and amazing staff this really is our go to place for a special occasion - or no occasion 😋
With a menu full of delicious plant based savory and sweet foods, there's always something to satisfy that craving!
As we have found ourselves working through the menu, to try the many delights there,
here we have a thin crust, sourdough pizza with cream cheese, sun dried tomatoes and basil.
Fried Schnitzel with a mushroom gnocchi, red cabbage and pickled cauliflower.
And for pudding, this raw avocado chocolate tart really is special!

Mono also shares it roof with an independent music store called Mono Rail music which provides a cool soundtrack for you to enjoy while you eat and drink there - such a special place in the heart of Glasgow ❤

"There's no such thing as bad weather, just the wrong clothing, so get yourself a sexy rain coat and live a little." - Billy Connolly, Glaswegian comedian. So true, when you live here or come to visit Scotland you certainly don't come for the sunshine - but that doesn't necessarily mean bad weather.
One of the first places I took Diana to visit, was the Isle of Skye, an Island situated on the North West coast of Scotland.
After some heavy breathing, sweating and some let's just say foul language, we made it to the top of the steep, grassy hill known as the "Old man of Storr."
It was a dull, grey afternoon with heavy rain and battering winds brawling with us on the ascend. Then for a brief moment, the rain came to a halt and the Sun started to break through the thick, blanket of clouds - the best reward we could possibly hope for after a challenging walk.
Although we were both soaked through and a bit shivery, we wouldn't change this day in the slightest! 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿❤

When you like another adult very much, and you choose to be at your best when the other person is not at their best ❤️
I think that’s when it’s time to make a strawberry cheesecake, pour some Prosecco and show some intense, warm and sweet emotions called love!
But not only to one person, but to everybody, just a little bit at the time, and not only one day but everyday.
Be kind to each other and share a cheesecake 🍓❤️

My love to chocolate is eternal and I am just at the beginning of my adventure with making plant based cakes but oh please show some love 💗 for this beautiful chocolate and raspberry sponge smothered in a smooth rich chocolate cream!
Best thing is, no added sugar! (Except little dust of icing sugar on the top - but that’s optional 😋)

We love it with cup of good coffee! What’s your favorite dessert? 🧁

What better way to get through the wet and wind that storm Ciara's bringing than by staying cosy at home and enjoying warm, hearty food. Its days like these I love to make ramen. Today I've made smoked tofu and wild mushroom ramen with pak choi, mix of veggies and udon noodles in a rich and spiceful broth that will be sure to warm us up!

What's you're ideas to stay warm in these type of days?

As a city boy from Glasgow, I was introduced to the Scottish Islands as a child and been fascinated by them ever since. In Scotland we are blessed to have many, each very special and with something different to offer.
Here I am on the Isle of Lunga, part of the group of Islands to the West of Mull known as the Treshnish Isles. Although unhabituated by humans, this beautiful and tranquil place is bursting with life. Many rare and endangered plants are native to the Island. Grey seals inhabit the waters surrounding the Isle and Puffins use the high, grassy cliffs as burrows to lay their eggs.
No matter what, when I need to get away this special piece of nature leaves me feeling refreshed and peaceful.
