Weekend games update

2015's

A change of venue saw us take on Westerton at Science Parks.
We started slow and found ourselves 2 down only to get back level with some good play but at the end of the 1st period we again found ourselves down again 2v3.
A swift change of plan in 2nd period saw us come out all guns blazing and by the end of the 2nd period we were well in control leading 10v3.
3rd period was much the same with 1 way traffic and eventually ran out 15v3 winners.
Boys were extremely good and deserved the win.

2014's

Game 1

2-0 win
We started off a bit jaded but didn’t really seem to get out of 2nd gear for majority of game. Last 15 mins we were working well for each other and moving the ball about with some good football. A good win and all played their part, very happy with the display and win.

Game 2
4-3 win
Playing a very good North Kelvin side. Boys worked so well for each other and played some great football. To lose a late goal to go 3-3 then to keep fighting and win with the last kick of the ball was brilliant. Proper team celebrations ensued.

2013's

SATURDAY team

3v3 draw. Boys are growing well as a team now. It seems the new additions are starting to find their feet and with quite a few having never played before coming in February, we are really pleased to see them settling.

A good game all round.

SUNDAY team

7v1 win which saw a really good performance and a great win.
This wee side are doing very well and building with each game. With another strong performance against a good side the boys are full of confidence.

On a side note this side took on a Strong Glasgow Athletic side on Friday night and won 4v2. A very good performance against top opponents.

2011's Sunday

A 3 nil win away to Fulham. This has been a long season for the boys and after such a tough start having a full team of development players they are starting to find their way. That is now 3 wins out of last 4 it is such a huge turnaround and a very pleasing one.

This gives us huge confidence for next season, hopefully it will go from strength to strength.

2010's Sunday

Up again table topping Ashfield we went into game on back of yet another free week (seems to keep happening everytime we get momentum). We started a bit slow and found ourselves 1 down through a freak OG (would have been goal of season condender if at other end) but we rallied and quickly started to make our own chances and outside some brilliant goal keeping we would have got back into the game, possibly even ahead. We thought we had gotten level but were quickly denied that with the referee saying the ball had gone out (our players adamant it hadn't).
We kept going and tried to get back level, even into 2nd half with us putting pressure on we just couldn't find that equaliser. With 10 minutes to go we lost another to a free kick and game ended up a 2 nil loss.
Overall we played well, stood up to the physicality and played some good football.

Weekend update.....

SATURDAY

2017's

4 difficult games but boys showed great character in all games. Starting to develop as a team

2016

Another improvement this weekend. The boys really are starting to get to grips with things so we'll done.

2015's

Difficult game for the boys. We were down to 7 with 3 players missing and as we were about to start we only had 6 due to one getting time wrong 🤣.

We found ourselves 1 down but quickly fought back to equalise only to lose another not long after. Considering the boys were a players down, we were playing some really good football and got ourselves back level before the end of the 1st third.

Overall a loss 2v5 but I cannot fault our boys. We had 4 x 2016's in our group today and all showed a level above their years which is what it's all about at these age groups.

2014's

Bit of a nightmare day for this age group. We had both teams playing at the same time today and a raft of last minute call offs and confusion in venue meant we started very slow. Both teams ran out losers but we'll need to write this one off due to circumstances outside boys control.

2013's

A 0v3 loss to a very strong opposition but our boys showed a level not seen so far. We have a mixture of development/Intermediate players playing against a strong Intermediate team, we more than held our own.

Sometimes you have to look at overall picture and forget about scores, especially at younger ages. This was one of those days cos outside the score there were plenty to take out of game. These boys are definitely building and improving so keep up the hard work.

2011's

Our boys were sitting top of league and found a game vs Baljaffray who despite being a point behind, beat us 6v1 in previous encounter.

I believe our team has vastly improved since those times and with added fire power up top I was quietly confident we could really show our true levels.

Up against a team who had played 15 winning 14, drawing 1 was always going to be a tough game but right from the start we showed we were going to do everything to win this game.

We should have been up at half time with a perfectly good goal disallowed for offside and 3 x 1v1's missed, not to mention a few 6 yard Box 'stramashes' it was 0v0 at half time.

Message was to continue the 1st half levels and they didn't disappoint. We ended 1 up with a fantastic solo goal and whilst Baljaffray continued to push we managed to get the 2nd from the penalty spot.

By far one of best performances of season as every player showed their levels and set down a marker for remainder of season.

Sitting 4 points clear albeit played more games, it's now up to the rest to claw it back.

SUNDAY

2013's

A 3v0 victory for the boys today. Very tight game and maybe we found ourselves a bit off our usual standards but we seem to have a belief in this side that we'll find a way - we did again today. Another win sees us undefeated again this session of games.

2011's

Our Sunday team have gone through somewhat of a transformation recently and although the campaign has been one of discovery, heartache, failure and the odd victory today the boys showed their true levels.

Up against a very capable Cambuslang Colts Yellow team, we were up for right from the start. The overall team performance was very good from the start but somehow found ourselves 1 down only to get back into it right away and pull ahead 2v1 at half time - a belief that has been lacking throughout the season.

Similar to the Saturday team, message was to go and press again and they certainly did. From GK to striker, we were outstanding to a player and we deservedly took a 5v1 lead before losing a goal to a fantastic free kick from opposition - 5v2 victory.

A great way to finish the weekend before the Easter shutdown.

Enjoy your holidays and stay tuned for more Football First and Futsal First Ltd updates.

Weekend update.

2017's

Fun 4's, sone food overall play the kids are growing each week. 1 new addition to squad.

2016's

2 wins out of 4. This squad is building each week with some strong individual performance.

This team is will take sone time but they are showing each week they are improving.

2015's

Hard one today.

Down to 7 players after 3 missing through various reasons, we had to start game with 6 players as one got lost on way to venue.

We battled away, played some decent football and when we finally got our full quota (last 3rd) we more than matched opposition and won that session.

We done to those who battled. With 3 x 2016's in squad, they showed tremendous endeavour up against strong opposition.

2014's

Double header vs Milngavie teams

First game was a 2v2 draw. Good performance and had we had our shooting boots on, we'd have won this comfortably.

2nd game was a 4v2 win and again, great team performance. We battled well, played some great stuff and deservedly won.

2013's

Tough game which we somewhat underestimated our opposition. Having already played them, the opposition looked massively improved and our inexperienced team were 4 down right away.

We managed to stead the ship but ultimately list the game - learning curve for the team as a whole.

2011's

A 10v1 win in league business was a welcome and timely boost to the squad.

Having lost our team captain, the side showed great resilience and got the job done in style.

SUNDAY

2013's

This group is one of our top performers in the academy. Running out 8v2 winners in what should have been much more was it not for the opposition keeper, a great performance by all and again showing the potential of this side.

2011's

Another defeat but again showed our Jekyll and Hyde performance.

1st half we more than matched, and for big parts outplayed a team sitting near top of league only for 2nd half performance to display a lackluster showing.

This side need to believe more as the players in this side are more than capable of winning these games.

2010's

Similar to the 2011's, this side are just not clicking.

After a super start to season, our levels since Coming back from winter break has been extremely poor.

A defeat again probably sees our promotion hopes being dashed which is disappointing. We will continue to plug away, hopefully they can get their early season levels back.

Once again thanks to our Sponsors for your continued support.

Busy weekend for the teams, good luck all

Bit late but my friend passed away suddenly last week leaving 2 kids without a Dad - Paddy was also a single parent.

A Tragic loss and a good guy who will be solely missed.

Understand you might not know Paddy but anything you can spare to help these kids have as good an upbringing as possible in such horrific circumstances.

Hi all, After the tragic news of Paddy’s sudden passing on the 26th of February it is with great respect … Gary Guckel needs your support for Paddy Porter

Was a really busy weekend and one that seen lots of games with a mixed bag of performances and scores.

SATURDAY

2017's

A few wins at fun 4's, the boys were still all smiles afterwards.

This group are going to grow into a special
team.

2016's

Tough day for the team managing 1 win. Again though, the team are improving each week and playing without a keeper it's always difficult so fair play as they keep battling.

2015's

Huge win for team over 3 x 15 minutes ending up 16v2. Boys played well with some great goals to boot.

2014's

2 teams now competing at this age group with our 1st game winning 5v4 in a tough match. 2nd game though we lost to a strong team but with 4 from game before playing in 2nd, tiredness definitely a factor (missing 3 players due to holidays)

Overall a very worthwhile exercise for kids.

2013's

Turned up to play but opposition only had 5 players 🤷‍♂️. Really frustrating when these things happen, boys managed to play a bounce game instead.

2011's.

Our boys met higher ranked opposition in 2nd round of league Cup. Missing a few key players, I still believed we had enough to get a good performance but unfortunately lost the tie out out the cup - only good thing is we concentrate fully on getting promotion.

SUNDAY

2010's

We travelled to Dumbarton to play a strong Renton team who we have met now on 4 occasion so far this season.

Like the last league match it was a tight affair with it going in 0v0 at half time. 2nd half was much the same and outwith a silly 2 minute period which saw us lose 2 goals we continued to battle away without success.

2013's

A very strong performance seen us run out 4v2 winners. The scoreline suggests an even game but we were dominant for long periods and missed a lot of chances allowing for opposition to get some momentum near the end.

Overall happy with performance as first game of new 'campaign'

2011's

A very tough game away today saw the boys up against it from first whistle but despite that some of the football we played was way beyond anything we've seen from.this side so far. The link play and combinations were great to watch with the only issue being not getting a goal or 2 from it.

The opposition though had great pace up top and exploited that and put a few goals in before half time with us managing to respond ourselves, game ended up a disappointing loss.

Well done to everyone who made games this weekend and to parents too - We do it all again this weekend.

Lastly for today (you'll be glad to hear) was our Saturday 2011's team.

Morton Community 6 v 2 Football Firat Reds

Our boys had found themselves with 2 free weeks so we managed to attain a friendly today vs a very strong high flying Morton Community Team who are top of the division above us.

A very strong first half seen us go in 2v2 and outside a few silly errors, we showed we have the squad to compete against higher ranked opposition.

2nd half we started brightly and despite many changes we more than showed our talented team is looking stronger as the season goes on.

Unfortunately we started to tire, Morton took full advantage and scored a few goals to run out winners.

Overall a very worthwhile exercise going into the 2nd round of League Cup next week.

Saturday 2013''s

A very strong performance vs a vastly improved Harestanes team.

The boys found themselves 5 up at half time and despite the score, we looked very rusty and lacking movement.

Second half ended up 1 a piece but was a much better team performance.

Good start to the session

2014's

Football First 0 v 3 Harestanes Red

Our 2014's has gone through a pretty dramatic change recently having added an extra 8 players to the squad from last year.

Today we were up against a Harestanes Red Team who pushed us from very start. With the new players mixing with some of the boys from.last year, the day was more about finding out about the team and seeing what is required going forward - 6 of these boys only came last week.

Overall score wise not the best but it was always going to be difficult with so many new faces.

Big shout out to Jamie in Goals who was superb today.

Football First 15 v 1 Baljaffray (3 x 15 minute games)

This group never ceases to amaze me. With half our squad playing a year up, they continue to play with such freedom and desire, not to mention some good football thrown in.

Up against a team finding their feet today, the boys pressed from.the word go and scored some really good goals. I would like to mention the opposition keeper who was absolutely superb pulling off save after save.

Good start to campaign and considering we hadn't had any friendlies or games prior, this was a good display.
