Day 8 of the 2024 St Jude Lourdes Pilgrimage:
“And That People Should Come in Procession”

Evening Prayer

Sign of the Cross
In the name of the Father who created me, the Son who set me free, and the Holy Spirit who sustains me. Amen.

Examination of Conscience
Lord, who hast redeemed me through thy blood, And sanctified me to do good forgive my sins, O Father God. Purge all my sins done heretofore, For I confess my heavy score, and I will strive to sin no more: Have mercy on me, Son of God. Enrich my heart, mouth, and hands with faith, with hope, and with charity, that I may run, rise, rest with thee: Breathe life into me, Spirit Lord.

Thanksgiving
When I call, answer me, O God of justice; from anguish you released me, have mercy and hear me. O men, how long will your hearts be closed, will you love what is futile and seek what is false? It is the Lord who grants favours to those whom he loves; the Lord hears me whenever I call him. Fear him; do not sin; ponder on your bed and be still. Make justice your sacrifice and trust in the Lord “What can bring us happiness?” many say. Let the light of your face shine on us, O Lord. You have put into my heart a greater joy than they have from abundance of corn and new wine. I will lie down in peace and sleep comes at once for you alone, Lord, make me dwell in safety. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

The Word of God
Hear, O Israel: The Lord is our God, the Lord alone. You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all your might. Keep these words that I am commanding you today in your heart. Recite them to your children and talk about them when you are at home and when you are away, when you lie down and when you rise. (Pause for reflection)

Short Responsory
Into your hands, Lord, I commend my spirit. You have redeemed me, Lord God of truth. Into your hands, Lord, I commend my spirit.
Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit.
Into your hands, Lord, I commend my spirit.

Nunc Dimttis
At last, all-powerful Master, you give leave to your servant to go in peace, according to your promise. For my eyes have seen your salvation which you have prepared for all nations, the light to enlighten the Gentiles and give glory to Israel, your people. Glory be to the Father, and to the Son, and to the Holy Spirit. As it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be, world without end. Amen.

Concluding Blessing-Prayer
Lord of the night, protect me while I am awake and guard me while I sleep. May your blessing be upon me, that I may keep watch with Christ and rest with him in peace, for he is Lord, now and forever. Amen.

Day 7 of the 2024 St Jude Lourdes Pilgrimage:
“And That People Should Come in Procession”

As our pilgrims begin to depart Lourdes, we pray;

O Mary, Mother of Jesus, I thank God, through you, for the grace of a happy pilgrimage, and all that has happened to me whilst I have been here. Pray for all those who have helped me here and for my fellow-pilgrims. Pray that I may have a safe journey and obtain for me the graces to do at home what you have taught me to do here.

Our Lady of Lourdes, pray for us (x3)
St Bernadette, pray for us

Hymn;
The bells of the Angelus call us to pray,
With sweet tones announcing the sacred Ave.

Ave, Ave, Ave Maria,
Ave, Ave, Ave Maria.

An angel of mercy, led Bernadette's feet,
Where flows the deep torrent, Our Lady to greet.

She prayed to our mother that God’s will be done,
She prayed for his glory that his kingdom come.

Immaculate Mary, your praises we sing,
Who reign now with Christ, our redeemer and king.

Immaculate Mary, our hearts are all thine,
Protect us, your children, who kneel at thy shrine.

In heaven the blessed, Your glory proclaim,
On earth, now, your children invoke your fair name.

Day 5 of the 2024 St Jude Lourdes Pilgrimage:

Amen.
