THE RULES!
PLEASE MAKE SURE YOU READ AND UNDERSTAND ALL RULES!
•Appropriate clothing should be worn: no man made fabrics (football tops, track suits, fleece, leggings, "work" trousers etc.). Legs should be covered (jeans are excellent and your best option), the toes should be covered completely (leather is good, work boots are best). Arms can be covered, again natural material should be worn here. No arguments, if you don't adhere you won't be permitted to stay.
Synthetic materials should not be worn at the forge! This includes some work trousers!
Read the label, Google or ask!
•All ideas should be agreed ahead of time, for all classes and courses.
This allows us to get what we need and start our lesson plan.
We will give a clear answer if the item is doable or not. It's exciting and we all want that magical sword but let's start with the basics and learn the craft before jumping to a million layer, pattern welded claymore! Ask before attending. Additionally fees apply for larger knives, swords, etc. Ask before you book!
•No more than 2 people working with the forge at one time.
We are not permitting spectators at present, unless they pay for their time in the forge.
•All sanding and grinding (belts, discs, or anything mechanical) will be replaced by the blacksmith. This is unless you can prove that you have the experience in using the machine and changing the consumables.
If damage to any machines or items in the workshop occur due to misuse; you will be required to replace the item and any cost incurred.
•No one under the age of eighteen years old, will be permitted in to the forge. This is non negotiable, and will not be discussed. No exceptions. OVER 18s ONLY.
•Weekend classes are available, these have to be arranged in advance and will start no later than 9am! We are more than happy to start earlier but later throws off all sessions and leads to difficulties. All bladesmithing classes start at 9am, at the latest!
Earlier times may be offered for any class or course.
•Once a class has been purchased you have three months to complete, if you require a full refund; you have 14 days to do so!
You have three months, from purchase, to complete your class/course.
Christmas gifts will recieve an additional three months and can be purchased between October 25th and December 25th.
All Christmas gift purchases will be booked AFTER December 25th! (Contact us after December 25th to arrange, not before).
You will be recharged if you do not complete the class within this time and wish to attend after the three months have passed. That means you have to book and use your purchase within this time, if you fail to do this you will not receive a full refund! Don't miss out. So, complete the class or course within three months or you have to buy it again.
•All sales are final. You will have 14 days, after purchase, to claim a full refund for cancelling any classes. After that, you will not receive a full refund. This does not effect your rights. Please ensure you understand this part. After 14 days the fee paid will not be refunded in the full amount, for ANY reason.
•All refunds are at our discretion. These will not be negotiated.
•If 48 hours notice is not given, for a cancellation; you will lose your purchase. All monies paid will be used to cover our loss.
A fee of £50 may be requested for future attendance on any classes or courses.
This is at our discretion and all decisions are final.
•We will not Forge any knife, sword or weapon on the UK banned list. Please view all said weapons on the government's website etc. Also, please see our website for conditions:www.scottishblacksmith.co.uk
•If you are unwell, for any reason, it is better for you (and everyone else) to reschedule and get better. If you are sick and attend you may be asked to leave, in which case you will have to repurchase the course if you wish to attend again. Don't put others at risk. If you have remaining time, you may be rescheduled providing 48 hours notice has been given.
•We will not tolerate rudeness, verbal abuse, or any act of aggression. This extends to harassment of any kind. In these cases you will be asked to leave and will not be permitted to finish your class or course at any point in the future. This is absolute! We are fair but we also expect you to listen and be open to the tuition.
•Only two people using the forge at one time. Two bladesmiths, maximum, using the forge.
•You must use your own face coverings whilst in the forge. These will not be provided but are mandatory if you are bladesmithing! Obviously you will be grinding and do not want to inhale the dusts.
YOU MUST BRING YOUR OWN FACE COVERINGS IF YOU ARE BLADESMITHING.
•stay behind the line! You'll see when you come in. Keep the area around the anvil clear if you are not using it. Do not stand at the anvil if others are working there. Safety first.
•you have three months to use/complete your class/course. After which you lose the class and will not receive a refund. The only exception to this is; if we have to lockdown or required to isolate. Your class will then be extended for the length of time we are closed, or how long you have to isolate.
It is YOUR responsibility to check this, either in the blog, here on Facebook, twitter, or Instagram. You didn't know is NOT an excuse. If the course was purchased for you; ask the buyer to confirm purchase dates. There will be no negotiation on this.
•hands must be santized before and after using our ppe. This has to be in front of us to ensure it's done. If you don't want to use ours, bring your own. But, we need to see it.
•if using the facilities, ensure the lid is down before flushing and keep the facilities clean! If you mess it, you clean it!
• Do not stand next to the anvil while others are working. You will be asked to step back ONCE, after that you'll be told to leave. Safety is paramount here!
•failure to adhere to these, or any other rules, will result in you being asked to leave and you will not be permitted to take part in any future sessions. You lose your class and money.
•Finally, DO NOT BE LATE. Show up ten minutes before your time, that will give you enough time to set up and get ready. We understand that sometimes we have no choice, so if you contact us; we'll give you a little leeway. If you are 30mins or more late, this will be considered a no show/cancellation and you lose the class. No shows and late cancellation; costs us A LOT of money, as such any monies paid will be used to cover our losses.
•Finally the above terms must all be agreed to before purchase.
This is our contract between each other and will be treated as such. If you do not adhere to the terms you are breaking the contract and you will not receive a full refund or be permitted to attend
