At last the rain has stopped so our lovely gardener Matt can start on the grass. Being a local (with the most glorious West Country accent) he moans about the rabbit and badger holes on the lawns- being a Londoner with no garden at home I secretly love them! It all part of nature and here at Tilham we are surrounded by so much of it. We have a beautiful front and back garden here - with lovely views of the fields and the Tor beyond where you can plonk yourself into a chair with a cup of tea and soak it all up 🐰🦉🐑🐄
A little tour of the upstairs of our beautiful farmhouse. We’re determined to keep the character of this 200 year old property while making sure it’s cosy and comfortable
When the weather is like this ☔️there’s only one place to be- pot of tea- farmhouse biccies- fire on- and an episode of Escape to the Country 🙏🏻There are so many beautiful places to visit from the cottage but if the weather isn’t on your side or if you just fancy a relaxing day by the fire with a good book or a film our cosy living room is just perfect
Back in my happy place. We arrived today in the most beautiful sunshine to take down the Christmas decs and check on oil levels and firewood etc after a really busy Christmas period. The first thing I do when I arrive here is read our Guest Book and honestly - your comments have blown me away. I missed my Dad on the drive down here. I sat in the Starbucks on the A303 with tears running down my cheeks. He’d have loved to have come with me and I’d have loved to have brought him and to listen to him one more time retelling his stories from his evacuation down here. Reading how much our guests have loved their Christmas visits really makes me happy as I know how much he would have loved hearing about your stays. He was so proud of Tilham Cottage and it was a dream of his for so long before he found it. Thankyou from the bottom of my heart for looking after it- for choosing it for your stays-and for sharing your thoughts in our book. Happy New Year to you all. We wish you health peace and happiness for the year ahead and look forward to welcoming guests, old and new in 2023 🥂
Thursday evening we decided to climb the Tor to watch the sun set and the Super Moon rise. I can honestly say it was one of the best experiences of my life. The large orange sun dipped slowly into the horizon - we then walked to the other side of the summit and saw the large pink moon rising slowly up. Magical. We stayed for a bit to watch people dance and play music before making our way down and back to Tilham where we laid in the garden watching the stars (we even saw a shooting star!). Check out the super moon dates for 2023 and get yourselves booked in! (My rubbish iPhone camera doesn’t do the moon justice - it looked way better through my eyes!) ☀️🌝🌟⭐️✨
It’s lke magic using Easy Crackle from Frenchic Paint and very satisfying! See previous post for a before and after!
