Street Games
A multi-sport initiative that allows young people to be involved in a variety of positive sporting activities. The main focus of this is to engage with young people to empower them and improve their situation. All sessions are street based and there is special attention paid to deprived areas and hard to reach young people, giving them the opportunity to participate in sport. Street
Biking
An outdoor based activity ran by fully qualified staff from the Detached Youth Work team allowing young people to experience the outdoor environment. All equipment is supplied by staff (Bikes, Helmets, waterproofs, lights, etc). Again this is used as a tool to engage with groups of young people and create a programme of focused work where young people can gain real life skills, learn more about their local area and improve health / fitness. An add on to this is the Night Riding Project ran in conjunction with the Street Biking which allows groups of young people to experience biking in the dark with torches. Youth Fitness
Youth Fitness has been a Pilot scheme this year which allows groups of young people to participate in physical activity. These sessions are delivered in various styles including Bootcamps, Circuits, HIIT, Spin, Boxfit and more. The intention of this project is to support young people between S1 – S6 through ages and stages of development that they tend to have lower self-esteem and poor body image resulting in lack of self-confidence which can affect all aspects on their life. By providing fitness sessions to young people it provides them the opportunity to improve their self-esteem and negative body image whilst encouraging peer support. This project is both street based and based within different indoor facilities and is for all levels of ability. Detached Youth Work
Detached Youth Work in Glenrothes is a street based project where staff make an initial contact with young people with the intention to build relationships to a point where staff can carry out focused or project work with groups of young people to empower and or better their situations in any way suitable. There is a focus on deprived areas and hard to reach young people. This is used as a tool of promotion and pathway for other projects ran within the Detached Youth Work Project (Street Games, Street Biking, and Youth Fitness).
