This will impact journeys to and from Bristol Airport and delays of up to 1 hour can be expected at peak travel times.

Beware of delays to flights to and from Bristol Airport today!

UPDATE: Flights are now taking off and arriving at Bristol Airport.

The A38 remains closed following a serious road traffic collision. Our shuttle buses are being diverted, with journeys taking longer than normal.

We advise passengers to leave extra time to travel to the Airport today and check flight times with their airlines.

We flew SunExpress from Bristol to Antalya. Apart from a small delay from Bristol the flight went swimmingly! Service onboard is superb! Prices with SunExpress are highly competitive compared to other airlines.

ATC update!

ATC functions have returned to normal however ongoing delays are expected whilst aircraft and crew get back into location and schedules.

Please check directly with your airline with regards to schedules and flight times to reconfirm your flight times.

CORFU UPDATE

Fires are spreading in Santa, Megoula, Porta, Palia, Perithia and Sinies area of Corfu which is located in the North East area of Corfu and have been evacuated to Kassiopi.

TUI have cancelled holidays due to depart today and tomorrow to selected hotels. “If you're staying at the TUI Blue Atlantica Nissaki Beach, Pantokrator, Golden Mare, La Riviera or Nautilusue then we advise not to travel to the airport. Other hotels are operating as normal.”

Jet2 holidays are operating as normal.

Easyjet Holidays are operating as normal.

With wildfires continuing to spread in Rhodes the situation is fast changing. We are working with our travel partners in resort and following local authority advice. We at RESFEBER know that going on holiday is a very joyous occasion for our customers. We are concerned about the increase in disruption onboard flights to/from the UK with passengers unable to conduct themselves in the appropriate manner and would now like to call upon the UK Government to implement a 'no fly' list for those disruptive passengers.

Disruptive passengers cost airlines thousands of pounds in diversions and delays, as well as causing distress to passengers onboard flights. We believe these passengers should receive a ban determined by the Criminal Justice System relative to the severity of the offence. Presently bans are determined by the airline in which the offence took place but this does not stop passengers flying with other UK based airlines.

Much like a driver receives a ban or sentence for a driving offence we would like to see a similar system implemented for flying to/from the UK when these offences take place. 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝘁𝗲𝗰𝘁 𝗬𝗼𝘂𝗿 𝗛𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗱𝗮𝘆

We have been following the case of Lyne Barlow with great interest. Lyne was a Durham based travel agent who has been sentenced to 9 years in jail for fraud.

With so many travel agents active on social media how do you know your travel agent is legit? Follow our top tips to make sure your travel agent is who they say they are.

1) A travel agent will have an official business email. If they are using a generic email such as gmail or yahoo this should ring alarm bells.
2) It’s common for travel agents to use mobile phones to work, especially in this day and age. However there should always be an official business telephone number of their organisation. If they don’t have one or are unable to provide one, this should raise alarm bells.
3) Does the holiday they are advertising sound too good to be true? Then it most likely is. If you are shopping around and 3 agents are giving similar prices and 1 is well below those prices, this should ring alarm bells.
4) Do your checks. Find out what financial protection they have in place, are they trading as part of a larger organisation? Are they members of an approved body? If so, check with that organisation that they are indeed an authorised agent.
5) Once you have done your checks and are happy to proceed with your booking, your travel agent will need to take a deposit or full payment if within 12 weeks of travel. If you are asked to pay via BAC’s payment, this is not unusual as this is the preferred method of payment for most travel agents due to the costs in taking a debit/credit card payment. However, you should ensure that the account name is an official business account, usually the name of the organisation the agent is a member of. It should NEVER be a personal account or paypal account. For example the account name on our bookings is “Trustees of PTS Air Travel Trust” as we financially protect all our customer funds via a trust account.
6) Once you have made a payment and confirmed your booking your travel agent should send you the following:-
- A receipt confirming payment
- A Tour Operator Confirmation Invoice with the names of the passengers travelling, all travel details and a price.
- An ATOL Certificate, if applicable. ATOL Certificates are only issued for holidays where there is a flight included. If you are booking a coach tour from the UK, a Cruise or rail holiday etc departing and returning to the UK you will not receive an ATOL Certificate.
7) Approx 2-4 weeks prior to travel you should receive your travel documentation which generally includes an Airline Booking reference and all accommodation details. If you don’t receive these then you should query this with the agent and make sure you get a copy.

Want to save when using an ATM machine abroad? When given the option to withdraw cash you’ll be presented with two options. 1) GBP and 2) Local Currency. Always select “Local Currency” as foreign banks will charge approx 4.5% plus a handling fee if you opt for GBP conversion!

It's no secret that most airlines charge for pre-booking specific seats ranging from £4.99 up to £99 per person depending on the airline, route and seat type. Here's our low down on pre-booking seats.

𝗧𝗿𝗮𝘃𝗲𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗖𝗵𝗶𝗹𝗱𝗿𝗲𝗻?
1) Travelling with children 7 and under? Most airlines adopt a policy of seating children with an accompanying adult. Ryanair, however, do insist on charging the accompanying adult a seat selection fee but the children seat free.

2) Children aged 8 - 11 can be sat one row in front or behind an accompanying adult, or across the aisle.

3) Children aged 12 and over can be sat anywhere on the aircraft.

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁'𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗯𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝗽𝗹𝗶𝘁 𝘂𝗽?
Consumer experts Which? have just released their research into the chances of actually being sat together without pre-booking seats (Seats together is classed as next to each other, across the aisle, or one behind the other).

Where is our favourite long haul carrier 𝗩𝗶𝗿𝗴𝗶𝗻 𝗔𝘁𝗹𝗮𝗻𝘁𝗶𝗰 I hear you ask? Well they don't charge for seat selection on the aircraft unlike British Airways. Neither does Delta Airlines charge for a seat selection.

𝗣𝗮𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗿𝘀 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗥𝗲𝗱𝘂𝗰𝗲𝗱 𝗠𝗼𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝘆
Passengers travelling with reduced mobility, known as 'PRM's' will usually have a seat pre-booked with at least one accompanying adult. This is because, depending on the type of assistance required, they can only sit in specific seats.

𝗛𝗶𝗱𝗱𝗲𝗻 𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗮𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗶𝘁𝗶𝗲𝘀
At present there is no requirement to provide assistance to board/de-board aircrafts at airports or seat selection for passengers with Hidden Disabilities which is incredibly frustrating to us. We will always request assistance for those that require it, but priority will always be given to PRM's. Most airports will allow fast track through security through the 'Sunflower' Lane but as for actually getting on the aircraft, it's dependent on availability.

𝗗𝗼 𝗜 𝘁𝗮𝗸𝗲 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗿𝗶𝘀𝗸?
Ultimately only you can decide whether you want to pay to pre-book your seats on the aircraft. We tend to find families travelling together or those with Hidden Disabilities find this part of their holiday the most stressful, so to ease that anxiety we would recommend pre-booking seats. However, it is important to note, that even if you pre-book seats this is 𝗻𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗿 guaranteed. Airlines may do aircraft type changes which results in a different seating configuration on board or simply may have to reassign you for 'operational reasons'.
