Today is National Bee day! 🐝
Here’s some facts about bees to celebrate 🙌🏼
* Bees have 5 eyes and 6 legs!
* Only female bees can sting! 🐝
* Honey bees communicate through a series of dance moves 💃🏻
* A hive of bees will fly over 55,000 miles to make 1lb of honey and can create 100lbs of honey in a year 🍯
* A honey bee can fly upto 15 miles an hour!

Interesting facts about Haltwhistle..
• The town is more than 1000 years old!

• It’s the most popular stopping point for people walking Hadrians wall

• The name Haltwhistle originally “Hautwysel”. The meaning of the name derives from its location, signifying either “The high hill by two rivers or “The watch on high”

• It has been nicknamed “The Centre of Britain”. This is because of its in exact centre of England and Scotland.

• In the 18th century two Quakers set up a baize manufactury and there was a weaving establishment.

• Haltwhistle was a market town for the exchange of local goods.

Hello and Welcome to our page!
We have on offer 4 self catering cottages.

Providing accommodation for walkers and family’s.

We have our cosiest cottage “Wrens nest” which is perfect for both solo travelers and for couples. It also has a decked area outside as you can see in this photo with a table and chairs, perfect for outdoor dining and sitting out and watching the sky on a night, we have dark skies and the northern lights viewing area up the road, you might even be lucky enough to catch the northern lights 😍

Next we have the “Smithy” a lovely one bedroom cottage crammed with so many original features, beams, fireplace and stunning views out of the bedroom windows.

It was once an old blacksmiths cottage and still has that same rustic charm and cosy feel.

One of our larger cottages for groups and family’s, “Shepherds heft” is a great option.

Large enough to sleep 6 people with its 3 bedrooms.
Large downstairs living space, with log burner fire.

Open plan living, kitchen and dining space so there’s space for everyone, to entertain and large dinning table for family dinners.

It also has a large arched door leading out to the gated patio area, with BBQ and outdoor dinning space perfect for the summer days / evenings expanding your living space and a great way to meet other people staying at the other cottages.

Finally we have the “ Coach house” with a double a twin and a quirky single bedroom for accommodation.

A large open plan living, dinning and kitchen space downstairs with a log burner as the main feature of the room.

Arched doors leading outside to the gated patio area which is shared with both the shepherd and smithy cottages.

Starting Easter, we are now offering both breakfast and dinner meal packages.

Breakfast is £5pp and dinner is £7pp.
