PRESS RELEASE: Fishguard Triathlon road restriction information

There will be a number of road closures during the Challenge Wales event in Fishguard and St Davids this Sunday (9th June).

The triathlon starts at Goodwick sea front and closures will be in place between 9.45am to 3pm, including closure of the A487 to St Davids with crossing points at Croesgoch and Mathry.

Around 1,000 athletes are expected to take part and many more supporters will also be heading to north Pembrokeshire.

More information and road restriction maps with diversion routes can be found on the Challenge Wales website, where there is also important information for carers. Anyone who needs more information should email [email protected]

Organisers have this year incorporated the Fishguard and Goodwick region into its LCW Princess Gate Legacy programme. This initiative focuses on investing in educational programmes like the learn-to-swim programme conducted in schools.

Lovely place to visit. A rare opportunity.

So tomorrow if the first of our 2 days being open to the public. Opening times are 10-4.30 and gardens, tearooms and pottery will be open. Please be patient with us as it might be busy but the gardens look amazing and we are looking forwards to seeing lots of familiar faces. Cheryl has been busy baking, see you tomorrow.

My artistic block was shifted by hearing about a cunning fox who has been stealing Welshcakes from the roadside hut where I like to gather my own 😆

He/she obviously has excellent taste but not only is it very rude, but I've been having to go without until the hut was adapted!

My advice would be to never drive past Plumstone Welsh Bakes without stopping 🤗

💚 Unbelievably less than a third of dogs found ‘straying’ are claimed by their owners, meaning we have to step in to give those dogs a future. All unclaimed dogs, transfer into our care with no discrimination on age, breed or health condition. Supporting our work means we can always be there for the unwanted and abandoned.

We’re trialling an e-bike rental scheme to enable visitors to explore the local area with the aid of an electric motor. We hope the e-bikes will help people travel sustainably and explore a little further on two wheels. Calling all gardeners in the St Davids area ! When sorting through your old plastic pots please think of us.

In an attempt to do our bit to reduce plastic waste, we want to reuse wherever possible. We especially need 1 litre 1.5 litre and 2 litre pots for our perennial stock plants. Next time you're passing please leave your unwanted pots in the bin in our outdoor cafe area. Why not have a coffee and a browse of our stock plants while you're at it?

We're open 10.00 to 16.30 Wednesday to Monday (closed Tuesday) throughout September.

We are delighted to share the news that our eldest has moved to Treiva, with her family, to start work converting the barn into a home. It’s going to be so exciting to see the lovely old shell brought to life. We hope you’ll enjoy following their progress.
