An evening stroll over Kendal Castle…earning our weekend calories!💪🏼
Fonsi has developed a new talent for hunting out fox poo & bathing in it top to toe! He was desperate to run free in his favourite space but I kept him on the lead knowing we are sharing our dining space with others this evening.🥴🤢
Just look at the fluffy butt on that!🐝 We had a very busy bee at Pie Cottage today…I’ve never seen one so clearly with her pollen baskets so full!🌺 The colony will eat well tonight!💪🏼 Nature is incredible!

Nature is incredible!
We had some incredibly noisy neighbours this morning!🎶
An early start for Fonsi & I across Nobles Rest & up into Serpentine Woods.🌲🌳🌲🌳
Nobels Rest is just across the road from Pie Cottage at the end of Maude Street & with a circular tarmac path it’s perfect in all weather conditions. It’s one of Fonsi’s favourites with lots of rabbits & squirrels to stalk!🐰🐿️ 🐰🐿️
Our outdoor hot water doggy shower has been put to good use this week…the rain has been relentless & Fonsi loved his romps in the boggy puddles across the fells!🐾💦
Easy like Sunday morning…🦆🎶🩵

Christmas in the Lakes
The final weekend we have available at Pie Cottage this year is a festive one, 15-17th December.🎄
Complete your Christmas shopping with some unique, independent Lakeland stores, get a lung full of mountain air (they may even be snow capped by then) & enjoy the towns festivities with some carol singing & bustling pubs!🎁❄️🍷
Did you know Kendal has an all-year round Christmas shop? With a singing reindeer? You’re welcome!🤭
We returned to Pie Cottage to clean & prep for the arrival of our next guests to find this lovely hand written letter waiting for us…
“To Susie, Dean + Fonsi.
This is what happened…
Day 1 we arrived and took the dog for a walk through town and ate cottage pie (apparently eating Cottage Pie at Pie Cottage was very amusing!).
Day 2 we went on a big walk to the castle.
Day 3 I had a bike and a boat ride and bought a book.
Day 4 today…”
Thank you Dion & Anne…we loved reading about your adventures & so happy you all had a wonderful holiday. We will keep your letter forever.🥰🌟❤️
I turn into a nature loving hippy when I’m back in the fells!✌🏼
Time slows down & I see/hear things clearer…appreciating the fresh air, the rustic stone walls, the tree rooted trails, the sunlight flickering through the dancing leaves…the lack of people & noise pollution (other than me & my heavy breathing!)😮💨
There are some steep climbs but so worth it for the views.💚
Easy like Sunday Morning! 💤💤💤
We really hoped our little potted garden would be loved by our Cottage Guests but also the local wildlife…how lovely to see that we have three ‘regulars’ enjoying the good stuff!🐝💜
We often get asked if there is anywhere nearby where the dogs can be let off their lead…it doesn’t get much better than having Kendal Castle on your doorstep!🐾🐾🐾
Follow Fonsi to the bar! #doggybeer #fridayfeeling
We have found so many gorgeous dog friendly cafes/beer gardens for our guests to enjoy (it’s been tough research but you’re welcome!😇)
It’s been easy really as Kendal is full of choice & they are all very welcoming!🐶💦
Here’s a few of our most frequented…🤭
Romneys
Brewery Arts
98 Highgate
The Shakespeare Inn
19 The Wine Bar
The Barrel House
Ye Olde Fleece Inn - Kendal
Have a wonderful weekend!☀️
Fonsi & I had a wonderful run over Kendal Castle this morning…it’s good to be back!
Make sure your volume is up!🕊️🤍
We often take the long walk to the chip shop Frydays of Kendal (in our opinion, the best in town!).
Be sure to ask for ‘extra scraps’…you’ve earned them afterall!💪🏼🤭
Charging into a fresh new week like Fonsi when he see’s his pals on his morning run!🤗🐾
We have our first guests arriving this weekend…full steam ahead!💪🏻
What a treat for the start of a Bank Holiday weekend!
This view is literally a 1 minute walk from Pie Cottage!
Fonsi loves 🦆watching & 🐰hunting along here!
Make sure you have the volume up…the sound of the rippling river & the birds singing is magical.💙
Monday morning never sounded so good…the rippling water of the River Kent.🌤️💙
As the sun rises on a snowy morning in Kendal with the snow capped fells glistening in the distance it was a wonderful experience to take our little Spanish rescue for his first snow experience across the magical Kendal Castle!🐾🤍
