We had a visit from Terri at Wiltshire Farm Foods today. She provided a tasting session and we all thoroughly enjoyed the samples. One of our favourites was the sticky toffee pudding! We are looking forward to Terri coming along to our next coffee morning so that our staff and service users can have a taste too!

The way ahead for Social Care...as in caring for others....

At its recent European conference in Edinburgh, IFSWā€™s President, Ruth Stark, asserted that social workers had ā€œbeen regulated not to give hugs. We need to be empowered to do so.ā€ Ruth was responding to Graeme Morgan from HUG speaking about his need to be held and comforted when he was ā€œdesperate anā€¦

Sounds like a good idea...would be great if it was available in Falkirk..

We are currently recruiting volunteer drivers and volunteer hosts in Cardonald, Hillington, Crookston, Mosspark and Pollok in order to launch a new tea party group in the area. Our drivers drive older guests to the tea parties just once a month on a Sunday afternoon. Our hosts host the tea party in their own home just once or twice a year.
If you think you might be able to help or know anyone in these areas who would be interested you can read more about the roles here http://www.contact-the-elderly.org.uk/become-a-volunteer
or contact:
Clare Wilde, Glasgow Development Officer
E: [email protected]
T: 07715 636641

By volunteering with Contact the Elderly you can find enjoyment and fulfilment in helping to make a real difference to the lives of older people who are otherwise isolated from family and friends.

Can everybody have a quick read and share of this post.
Today I received a bag of returned medicines inside was 23!!! Unopened bottles of Desmopressin 0.2mg costing Ā£88.23 a bottle and 7!!! unopened bottles of Desmopressin costing Ā£44.12 a bottle. Total expenditure for these returned medicines was Ā£2331.13 pounds not accounting for the costs of other medicines returned.
The NHS is an indispensable asset that every individual is entitled to. It is every persons responsibility to protect the NHS and the people who work with the organisation. Can I ask all patients, carers, healthcare professionals to remain vigilant against medicines wastage and only order medication when required keeping a maximum of 4 weeks and not to stock pile medicines.

In our job do we come across this a lot?
