Deri Fawr (Big Oak) nestles in a valley created by the Afon Coch (Red River) which enters the sea at Dulas one mile to the east. In this beautiful location where there was once a mediaeval village called Deri, an 18th Century stone barn has been converted it into 4 cottages: The Smithy, The Stables, The Granary and The Byre. Both are in idyllic locations on the edge of a meadow planted with native

trees, giving privacy and peace. All the land and gardens (2.5 acres) are available for your enjoyment. There are extensive hedgerows, many trees, birds and animals. The garden has flower beds, fruit trees and a vegetable plot. The paddock is surrounded by a big old hedgerow and is planted with native trees. At the bottom of the paddock, a stream runs through two ponds which are home to our ducks. Rabbits and hedgehogs come and go and bats are to be seen regularly. We are keen on encouraging wildlife and keeping the planet sustainable. Birds and wildlife abound as we try to manage the land to encourage a balanced ecology. We recycle as much as possible, use stream and rain water for many purposes. We live in the house nearby and are always available to give advice, help or just to talk. For the comfort of all our guests we do not accept pets and are a non smoking establishment. Deri Fawr is an ideal centre from which to walk and Anglesey has 650 miles of footpaths. Much of the coast is designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty or owned by the National Trust. Nearby is Lligwy Beach and Moelfre or the Dulas Estuary. Anglesey is a mecca for birds and we have numerous bird and nature reserves. The island is well known for the profusion of wild flowers which grow all over it. The island has a wealth of historic sites, many from most ages since the prehistoric times.

Our Story

Deri Fawr (Big Oak) nestles in a valley created by the Afon Coch (Red River) which enters the sea at Dulas one mile to the east. In this beautiful location where there was once a mediaeval village called Deri, our 18th Century stone barn has been sympathetically converted it into four cottages: The Smithy, The Stables, The Granary and The Byre. Wales Tourist Board has awarded them all four stars in recognition of the high standard achieved. We also have two luxury caravans, in an idyllic location on a meadow planted with native trees, giving privacy and peace. Outside there is a patio with a picnic table and plenty of room to walk about and watch the wildlife. All the land and gardens (3 acres) are available for your enjoyment. There are extensive hedgerows, many trees, birds and animals. The garden has flower beds, fruit trees and a vegetable plot. The paddock is surrounded by a big old hedgerow and is planted with native trees. At the bottom of the paddock, a stream runs through two ponds which are home to ducks, moorhens, kingfisher, fish, eels and frogs. Rabbits and hedgehogs come and go. Bats are to be seen regularly. It is very quiet here and many guests comment on this. Lately Red Squirrels have started to visit our garden.

We are keen on encouraging wildlife and keeping the planet sustainable. Birds and wildlife abound as we try to manage the land to encourage a balanced ecology. We recycle as much as possible, use stream and rain water for many purposes and have won an award in the Green Dragon conservation project. We are now burning wood which we planted from seed twenty years ago. 25% of the award winning beaches in Wales are on Anglesey. Minutes away is the award winning beach of Lligwy Beach. Safe and sandy, it has parking and toilets. There are footpaths to Moelfre, Dulas and inland. There is a fine network of footpaths all over the Island. We know the 125 mile Coastal Footpath well and have guides and maps including ten walks leaflets guiding you on 150 miles of way marked footpath in some of the most beautiful coast and countryside in the world. We may be able to offer transport for linear walks. There is a drying room for walkers and there are cycles to lend. Anglesey is a mecca for birds and we have numerous bird and nature reserves. The island is well known for the profusion of wild flowers which grow all over it. The island has a wealth of historic sites, many from most ages since the prehistoric times.
