🇬🇧 The official foundation date of the Russian Imperial Black Sea fleet coincides with the first entry of 11 ships of the Azov fleet into the Akhtiar Bay (subsequently the Bay of Sevastopol) on 13 May 1783. The naval base and the city of was later founded on the site of the Akhtiar settlement.

👨🎨 Ivan Aivazovsky (1817-1900)
The artist himself considered the best place in Europe, preferring its natural setting over that of Italy. By the late 1840s, left the capital of Saint Petersburg for good to settle in his native Feodosia, where he started working on a series of paintings commissioned by the Academy of Arts devoted to Crimea’s port cities of , , , and . It was here that the marine artist said he came to understand «the colours of southern skies and waters and the secrets of aerial perspective» and where he carefully «studied atmospheric changes, the play of light and shadow on the sea waves, the mountaintops and crowns of trees».
🇷🇺 Официальной датой создания Черноморского флота Российской империи считается 13 мая 1783 г., когда в Ахтиарскую (впоследствии Севастопольскую) бухту впервые вошли 11 кораблей Азовской флотилии. Позже на месте поселения Ахтиар была заложена крепость и город Севастополь.

👨🎨 Иван Айвазовский (1817-1900 гг.)
Лучшим местом в Европе художник считал #Крым и предпочитал его природу Италии. В конце 1840-х годов #Айвазовский навсегда покидает столичный Петербург и поселяется в родной Феодосии. Там он начинает писать по заказу Академии художеств виды крымских приморских городов - #Феодосия, #Керчь, #Севастополь, #Ялта, #Гурзуф .
Здесь знаменитый русский #маринист постигал «колорит южных небес и воды и тайны воздушной перспективы», внимательно «изучал атмосферические перемены, игру света и тени на волнах моря, на вершине гор, на купах деревьев».
