Well done to all involved yesterday -
Looe RNLI - Our RNLI volunteer boat crew would like to say a special thank you to RNLI Assessor/Trainer Carl Beardmore who, today, spent all day at the station testing and assessing the navigation skills of five of our crew members. We are pleased to report that after a written exam and an exercise out at sea, Amber, Alex. Jonty, Nathaniel and Will all passed their assessments to join fellow crew members Aaron, Goron, Richard and Victoria as qualified inshore lifeboat navigators. Helping with today’s assessments were senior helm Clive Palfrey who along with Carl spent over two and a half hours at sea this afternoon for the practical tasks and shore crew Mitch, Dave and Ian who launched and recovered the charity’s Atlantic 85 Sheila and Dennis Tongue II.
The RNLI’s Operational Competence Framework (OCF) which went live at the beginning of this year, introduced a new role of navigator. This role sits between Tier 2 crew ( previously known as competent crew ) and Helm. Our operations team and crew took the decision to train all our Tier 2 crew as navigators. Congratulating everyone on their achievements during the debrief, Clive praised all our crew for their dedication and hard work over the summer months preparing for the written exam and practical assessments.

Very proud of our son, Alex. Following in his great, great grandfather's footsteps as a Looe RNLI crewman - and thankful to Burts Crisps for their support of the RNLI 200 year anniversary.
Let's hope their special RNLI packs raise lots of money for this great charity.

Alex volunteers for the RNLI lifeboats, which keep us safe at the seaside. We don’t like thinkin’ of things goin’ wrong at the beach, but every year, people get into difficulties.

The crew are always on alert, ready to rescue us day and night – so we’ve covered our packs with RNLI heroes to celebrate 200 years of ‘em. Look out for ‘em next time yer snackin’ and scan the QR code on the back to learn how to Float To Live LINK

Really superb - Top quality ingredients, cooked to perfection.
