Dragonfly action in the pond this morning. Old nymphs left on the stalks and two adults just emerged from their nymph stage and waiting for their wings to dry before they're off into the wild blue yonder.....and a Broad-Bodied Darter (I think?) for good measure. (I daren't put a hashtag for 'nymphs') 🤣

After a few years of being eaten by rabbits or deer, we managed to grow a few Snakeshead Frittilaries in the orchard at last. The bees like them too.

Our Story

The Cobbler's Cabin is a cosy, self-contained garden room with ensuite toilet and shower room, double bed, kitchen and seating area. You are welcome to roam the garden where, in summer, the sun conveniently sets right opposite the veranda. A travel cot is available if needed. The essentials for breakfast: tea, coffee, cereals, jams, bread etc are provided to get you going. The Cobbler's Cabin is in the grounds (sounds a bit grand) ok it’s next to, our house, Cobbler's Cottage, in a quiet Lincolnshire village. You can relax here, stroll the country lanes, walk along the beach or just chill out on the veranda. And there's free wireless internet if you really miss the outside world. The nearby Lincolnshire Wolds is wonderful walking country, there's the cathedral city of Lincoln 45 mins away and historic connections with the Mayflower Pilgrims at Boston. The Georgian market town of Louth 7 miles away is perfect to stroll around and sample the produce supplied by some wonderful independent food shops. It has cosy pubs, specialist retailers, live music venues and has the country's tallest parish church whose spire you can climb to get a stunning view of the surrounding countryside. Lincolnshire is known as Bomber County and has many historic, wartime airfields including the home of The Dambusters at Woodhall Spa. Wide open beaches are only minutes away. You can experience all the fun of the fair or find deserted beaches where the only company is the seagulls or, in November and December, the hundreds of grey seals that gather to give birth to their pups at Donna Nook. Cadwell Park racetrack is about 10 miles away and hosts Superbike Championship rounds as well as track and corporate days.
