Portugal -Day 6
Today we said farewell to to Evora. First of all we travelled eastward to Campo Maior to visit the Coffee Science Centre. A Really interesting and educational place.
It was then to Elvas for lunch and a short walking tour before heading back across the country to Cascais and our base for the next 3 days.

Walking or Leisure in North Yorkshire Day 3:
An early start today to catch the 10.30 NYMR train from Grosmont to Pickering.
A nice relaxing start to the day.
After our leisurely journey we re-joined the coach to travel to Helmsley for an our lunch stop. A lovely town with a good range of shops and cafes.
A short drive from here resides the The National Birds of Prey Centre. With over a 100 birds in their care the group spent an interesting afternoon there. We were also treated to a flying display!
With the inclement weather holding off until our departure time we had been extremely lucky, not just today but the whole weekend. A very enjoyable packed 3 days.

Winter Mystery- Day 3
Our first port of call was Lichfield. Today the Christmas Fayre was on. A very interesting city with a lovely Cathedral and quite a few other places to see.
The final stop for the Tour was the National Arboretum. Quite a few decided to use the land train to get a good feel for the place. Others took a chance on the weather and explored on foot.
Another good Mystery Tour with Fawlty Towers thrown in as well😬😬

Winter Mystery- Day 2
There a few good guesses for our destinations for today although no one got the our first stop, Denby Pottery. The retail therapy was much appreciated mainly by the ladies but not exclusively!!!
Moving we headed deeper into Derbyshire for the main event of the day, Christmas at Chatsworth House with its Christmas Market and Gardens. A lovely afternoon here and as dusk fell the beginnings of the light trail started to shine. It was shame we couldn’t stay for the light show later on but we had to get back for the second day of our Fawlty Towers Experience 😬

Winter Mystery -Day 1
Mystery solved for today. Destination Black Country Museum at Dudley. Nice time there with people finding things to see and do during our time there. Whether the Hard Hat tour of the mine, a trip on the canal in the Dudley tunnels or back to school !
The chips from the chippe weren’t bad either 😁
Our final destination proved to be Derby.
The hotel was a little like fawlty towers but the food was good.

Fylde Coast Walk or Day at Leisure in Blackpool.
With storm Babete rattling the windows and washing us off the planet the omens didn’t look good for our day on the coast. However on the day the storm had passed us and a lovely day heralded our walk.
Everyone enjoyed themselves the walkers🚶‍♂️ and those who chose a day at leisure. Even got to see a bit of the illuminations on the way home.

A Capital Weekend - Day 4
A lovely warm and sunny day again for our trip to Leonardsee Gardens .
Although the autumn colours hadn’t quite matured but it was still nice to walk around the gardens/lakes to view the sculptures, flora and fauna.
The dolls house exhibition is fantastic and well a visit.
Overall a great weekend was had by all 😁

A Capital Weekend -Days 1-3
What fantastic weather for our weekend visit to London.
Day 1 - A reasonably good journey down to Windsor for our afternoon tea and cruise on the Thames. We were royally treated to a 2 hour cruise with commentary. Both were excellent. With a bit of time to explore Windsor it was a nice end to the day.
Our base for the weekend is The Bull at Gerrards Cross. Very comfortable with good food.
Day 2 - our destination for the day was central London with a guided tour of the Royal Albert Hall. Our guides were brilliant and we even got to listen to a rehearsal!
In the afternoon people were free to roam at will in London and they did.
Day 3 - Greenwich day. Our first port of call was the Old Naval College and the Painted Hall. Great guides once again. Then it was free time until the afternoon for a visit to the Cutty Sark. Another very interesting visit. Then a bit of free time again before our departure back to the hotel. Overall another great day out.

Wild Atlantic Way
Day 5 -Westport. A day with free time in Westport. A nice day forecast so most walked to Westport House for our only scheduled activity for the day . A guided tour of the house led by our very enthusiastic and entertaining guide, John.
After the tour the group scattered all over Westport with shopping, food and even a bay cruise on the agenda.
Day 6 - A drive along part of the Wild Atlantic Way with photo stops along the way. Our final destination was Kylemore Abbey and gardens. A great place to visit.
Sadly our final day in Eire with an early start tomorrow to catch our afternoon ferry back to Holyhead.☹️

Wild Atlantic Way
Day4 - A day out on Clare Island. Our cycle of rain one day and sun the next continues. You’ve guessed it, a rain day although not quite as bad as forecast. We wer met by Carl, our guide and host for the day. The journey over was smooth and dry. On arrival on Clare Island we were given a short talk about the castle and then we swiftly moved on to the Sailors Rest to continue the talk, have lunch and shelter from the worsening weather. Due to the poor weather forecast an earlier ferry had been arrange and that was welcomed by all. With increasing winds and rain it made for an interesting return sailing. Back at the hotel the rain finally abated and have people a chance to have a stroll out to the town or harbour.

Wild Atlantic Way Days 1-3
Day 1 The journey to Dublin went very smoothly and we arrived at Powerscourt House and Gardens in sunshine. Very impressive gardens and a pleasant way to spend our first afternoon in Eire.
Day 2 - Travelled across to a very wet Galway for our walking tour of the city. The weather didn’t dampen our spirits as we explored the city. Re boarding the coach 50 soggy MANCASS travellers headed for Westport and our base for the next 5 nights.
Day 3 - A bright and sunny day for our trip to Ceide Fields. The guided tour by Andy (from Manchester no less) was excellent as was the visitor centre. After refuelling with soup and sandwiches we headed to the Connacht distillery for a tour and a tasting. Very nice to!
The journey back to Westport was very quite. They must have nodded off.

Day 7 - the day started with a guided tour of Munich. First off was a stop at the Nymphenburg Palace. Although the gardens are not up to Versailles standard they are still pleasant and well worth a longer visit. From here it was a visit to BMW World which is situated right next to the Olympic Park. Picked my new car there!
Next came the bonus of a swift visit to the Allianz Stadium the home of Bayern Munich.
Then back into the city centre for a short walking tour of the city centre.
Afterwards it was free time to explore the city. Personally a visit to the Deutsches Museum. A great science museum and we’ll worth going to.
Time now for a beer 🍺

Day 6 - Sadly today it was farewell to Fai Paganella. A lovely little town. Heading north for the Austrian border via the Brenner Pass. I think half of Germany was going in that direction as well !
After crossing the border we had a lunch stop before arriving at our next destination Kufsfein for a guided tour of the castle. Our 2 excellent guides related the castles and the town’s history. After what was too short a time we headed for our final stop, Munich.
Checked in at the Eurostars grand central it was time to hunt for food and drink. Nailed it. The Augustinier Bier Haus is 5 minutes walk away. Cheers.

Day 5 - a day in Fai Paganella.
Our host Fausto treated us to a lovely walk around the village, explaining all about its history up to the present day. Luckily the weather stayed fine so the picnic lunch went ahead. Pizza and wine!
With the rest of the day free most people took the advantage to explore a little more of the surroundings.
Tonight is the Crolla evening and of course the Champions League Final. Come on City!!!
